A member of the Talaandig indigenous community in Pangantucan, Bukidnon in Southern Philippines tends to his upland vegetable farm. The water comes from the densely forested Mt. Kalatungan. The conservation of Mt. Kalatungan is largely attributed to the recognition of the effectiveness of indigenous community management practices. “Price grew tired of seeing the same images of famine, poverty and sadness often seen in South Sudan. “I’m fed up with the hegemony of this discourse - it’s boring,” he says. “You see that again and again and again and it makes no real difference to how people think about these places. I didn’t want to just come back with the stereotypes and cliches.”
