Hoo boy. This ship smashes my heart into a thousand million pieces every time. Since I try to keep this blog strictly canon, this’ll be based off their tragically short (ow, my feelings) relationship.
Who cooks normally?
Deveral, definitely. Arvanna was a notoriously bad cook.
How often do they fight?
They never did fight. I don’t think they even got to spar.
What do they do when they’re away from each other?
I can’t speak for Deveral (my immediate thought was “drugs” and I had to laugh). Arvanna, being second lieutenant at the time, spent a lot more time in uniform than he did. When she wasn’t doing that, she was either at home pretending she didn’t feel like useless garbage or she was in a bar pretending not to feel like useless garbage.
Nicknames for each other?
When Deveral and Arvanna first met, she introduced herself as “Second Lieutenant A. Steelwing,” because her then husband, Gandris, was also a lieutenant. Deveral has mostly referred to her since then as A.
Who is more likely to pay for dinner?
Arvanna. A lieutenant’s salary is a fair deal more generous than a private’s.
Who steals the covers at night?
Though neither of them actually slept much that one night they spent together, I imagine Arvanna was the one stealing the blankets as she had difficulty drifting off if she didn’t have something to wrap her arms around. More than often toward the end of her life, this was a bundle of blankets.
What would they get each other for gifts?
For Wintersday, Deveral gave Arvanna a cheap gold bracelet, which she loved. Worried he wouldn’t have anything to keep him warm over the cold months, she got him a fairly pricey coat and, while already resigned to the assumption that he would probably ruin it, told him to take care of it.
Who remembers things?
Their relationship was sadly a lot more weighty to Deveral than to Arvanna. He’ll probably remember it a lot longer than she would have.
Who cusses more?
While I think they were pretty even with their cursing, Deveral probably had one over on Arvanna there.
What would they do if the other one was hurt?
Arvanna didn’t sustain any major injuries in the time between meeting Dev and dying, though I seem to remember he got a concussion or some type of head wound and a well-meaning Arvanna ribbed him for it.
Who kissed who first?
Arvanna kissed Deveral.
Who made the first move?
Dev dropped little hints, jokes that were jokes, but not just jokes. Arvanna, I think, was the one who actually made it happen.
Who started the relationship?
The Vanguard. Arvanna gave Deveral his initial interview.
