He was born in Thailand, raised in Thailand, lowkey did not like feeling like he would never leave Thailand.
Jumped at the chance to learn diving when he was in school. He loved it so much he did any kind of odd job to raise enough money to continue learning. Just because he couldn’t leave the country didn’t mean he couldn’t get a change of scenery.
His parents got divorced a couple years later, and his mom left Thailand, leaving him behind with his dad.
He resented her for years after that, until she came back the day he turned 20 and asked him if he wanted to meet his extended family in Australia.
Every year since, he makes the journey to his mom’s country and stays for a month before going back home.
He has never dived in Australia because he’s worried if he does, he’ll never want to leave. He’s seen pictures, and diving in Thailand is something else, but Australia is Really Something Else™.
He didn’t want to go to Australia this year because his dad has started forgetting too many things for it to just be random forgetfulness, but he ended up going at his father’s insistence.
The only thing he could think about as the plane went down was that he hoped his father would know he didn’t abandon him.

Born in Denmark to a large family.
Being one of nine children, his parents had to find a way to get all of their kids out of the house for a while for some peace and quiet and that way was football.
Five of the nine children, Simon included, stuck with the sport as they got older, all eventually joining professional teams.
Technically outside of football even though it was because he played, Simon took on the role of caregiver. He was one of the youngest of his siblings, but he liked knowing how to take care of any injuries they got, whether it was because of football or injuries in general. It was an emotionally fulfilling thing for him to know and his knowledge only increased with the extent of injuries his siblings sustained.
Simon, along with his younger brother, went to Australia together to compete in the World Cup, representing their home country.
Denmark winning the World Cup against Australia was going to be a big deal back home, so instead of heading home like he originally planned, Simon decided to go to the States as a way to celebrate while still getting some peace and quiet after a very long month of games.
When his parents contacted the brothers from California that they’d all arrived safely and couldn’t wait to see them again, Simon and his brother finalised their own flight details and boarded Flight 815.
Simon last saw his brother in the part of the plane that was presumably lost to the ocean.

hi folks ! i’m lucia and this is fiona. she’s processing a lot right now ! a promising career in a level I trauma center back home, fiona’s career as an er nurse means everything to her. taking an extended vacation and visiting an old friend, fiona attended an emergency medicine conference, bringing along her trusted dog macready, whom she’s trained as a companion dog and brought to the hospital on some of her days off.
after a lovely vacation, fiona was all-too-ready to return back to her routine at home. days off between work can so often leave her antsy and anxious for something meaningful to do. the flight was welcomed until everything went wrong. now fiona is trying to find macready and treating those injured or ill in the field.

ahh, i hate doing intros; i feel so awkward about them. i’m lucia. i’ve been sick and so i meant to get on sooner but i slept like a million hours. maya has been working on doctoral thesis in bioarchaeology, specific to funerary archaeology in the aegean. after a tumultuous relationship with the father of her daughter, rodrigo, maya returned to the states to work on her thesis and stay with her mother. the ugly custody battle was only exacerbated by the distance--rodrigo stayed with their daughter nayeli in crete. hunting for postdoc jobs where she could continue to expand on her research and work towards securing a professorship someday--her more immediate goal to be reunited with her daughter.
while scouting postdoc jobs in australia, maya found that while the country was beautiful, it was simply too far away from her mother to truly consider. saying goodbye, she boarded oceanic flight 815 to return to seattle and regroup. instead, the crash landing has left her shaken, bumped and bruised, and more than a little shaken that she might never see her daughter again.
