So, I know that I’ve been inactive the past few weeks. This is mostly due to the nature of my work and the fact that as lockdown has stretched on longer, I’ve been given more work to do.
I debated on making this post and what I was going to do on what greeted me when I logged back into Tumblr for the first time in days, but I’ve decided it’s probably for the best.
Essentially, I was greeted to an inbox absolutely full of nasty messages. Criticisms on what/when I’ve posted things (many of you know that I run mainly on a queue of reblogs, hence the notice on my blog - this does mean that many of my posts can be out of date by the time they actually go up), incredibly nasty criticism on my writing/lack of content that I actually produce, and comparisons to other authors (mostly by the amount that they can post in any given time compared to how slow my content can come out - but I do double-check a lot of things like setting, I comb through for spelling errors, etc. and I don’t post until it’s content that I as a fan would also be happy to read).
Now I can see where some of these people are coming from (like pointing out that some of my content is ‘old’ because of the queue posting, as most of these were fairly mild) - but others I genuinely don’t understand. If someone doesn’t like my writing content, I would hope that they would just scroll on - but here we are. I work incredibly hard on what I do write, so I am hurt by these comments and am hurt that anyone would take the time to send me these messages.
Anywho, I’ve decided that I’ll not be posting on Tumblr. My writing can be found on AO3 (Archive of Our Own) and will continue to be posted there in future under the username deVien (and yes, for those of you who have been following it, I will post my Mammon fic ‘Infernal Heat’ up there when it’s finished). I’ll be writing a post to put up in my queue as my final post just so that everyone’s aware/in case this one is missed.
I’m not deleting the blog as I’ll still be using it to look at content/for the references that I do use and to support you folks in all of the wonderful content that you create! I may come back in future, but we’ll see.
To those of you who have been lovely and supportive, thank you so very much. Every word has meant an incredible amount - so much more than I could possibly put into words.
Hope to see you around!
