                    the night before felt like a dream . like it didn’t really happen , just another scene mason had put together due to his inner thoughts - - - but he knew it wasn’t when he woke up the next day , practically next to her . good thing he left before she could even wake up . mason collected his thoughts in his apartment , sitting on the couch for moments with his dog rover . scrolling through his phone , he texted her to come on over . offering breakfast , not taking no for an answer . he got up to walk to the kitchen , taking out the things he needed for pancakes . rover was right there next to him as he muttered things to himself , again lost in thought until hearing a knock on the door . he hesitated for a second , but walked over to open the door . “ daphne , hey . “ he greets - - - awkwardly, yet still does it . “ so last night , “ he begins but steps aside , forgetting he had to let her into his home . “ i mean , whatever last night was , we can talk about it . “ mason continues explaining as she walks in . “ over pancakes ? i’m cooking . “

“  that’s  the  thing  though  .  .  ”  he  starts  ,  desperately  trying  to  rest  his  case  before  the  other  managed  to  shut  him  down  .  aiden’s  experiences  with  love  rarely  worked  out  in  his  favor  ,  hence  the  reason  why  he’s  in  this  situation  ,  but  it  was  because  of  the  person  in  front  of  him  that  allowed  him  to  grow  from  it  .  tons  &  tons  of  soul-searching  later  brought  him  to  this  very  point  ,  seeking  it  necessary  to  speak  his  innermost  thoughts  &  emotions  before  it  was  too  late  .  to  be  honest  ,  the  male  couldn’t  see  the  things  in  him  that  the  other  admired  .  .  still  can’t  ,  but  he’ll  believe  it  ,  anything  to  prove  that  he  wasn’t  that  cold  ,  heartless  person  that  his  counterpart  had  once  experienced  .  it  pained  him  knowing  that  he  wasn’t  able  to  express  himself  then  ,  under  a  plethora  of  circumstances  ,  now  not  finding  himself  able  to  leave  until  the  entirety  of  his  emotions  were  spoken  .  “  i  wasn’t  fuckin’  ready  two  months  ago  ,  babe  ,  ”  his  tone  is  honest  &  almost  whispered  ,  speaking  loud  enough  for  only  them  to  hear  ,  “  but  i’m  ready  now  .  i  can  say  it  ,  shit  ,  i  JUST  did  ──  but  i  meant  it  .  every  single  fuckin’  word  .  ”  aiden’s  banking  on  his  words  to  strike  some  semblance  of  truth  with  them  before  it’s  too  late  ,  taking  a  second  to  prepare  himself  for  what  was  about  to  come  from  this  .  “  what  exactly  are  you  still  mad  at  ?  ”
