I like to think of myself as a “hiker”… but I’m really a meander’er or a lollygagger strolling type of hiker.. lol😅😬 I’m the hiker that gets to where I’m going but usually bringing up the tail-end. I like to stop, take pictures, look at the surroundings, take a rest, breathe and give myself a pep talk “you got this”. I like the easy hikes, the ones that don’t make you feel like you’re dying. I don’t need the hard challenge. I’m definitely the turtle in the turtle and the hare story.. slow and steady.
While in Sedona this weekend, I hiked this Devil’s bridge hike.. my “all trails” app says moderate with a strenuous last 100 feet with a crab-walk up the rocks. This is not a hike I typically would do but I’ve always wanted to see this and be on that bridge! Of course doing this 20 years ago would probably have been easier but… here we are 😬 that last 1.5 miles was all uphill, it was 90+ and I wanted to turn around a million times 😅… but that last overlook before the crab-walk up the rocks.. I took a 30 min break… I was so close… but I kept thinking how hard it was going to be to get down.. I was talking myself out of going the last 50 feet! 😬
I pulled it together… climbed the shit out of those rocks and made it to the top and crossed that bridge. 🥵
Yeah… “I got this” 😊
The Devil's Bridge : Kromlau, Germany

Rather than submitting one bridge, can I please submit the entire concept of the Devils bridges from Europe? They're hauntingly fascinating and beautiful stone arch bridges. They're infamous because they are incredibly ancient with uncertain origins and often have folklore surrounding them to explain their impossible architecture (circa mediaeval times). I've walked over once once in Italy (I can't seem to find it online though?) and it's hard to describe the way I felt.

Same location, different sky. The two pics show the difference 6 months makes - the Milky Way in September and the constellation of Orion in March. Looking south over Devil's Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale.
