Apollo 17 vs Artemis II
Earthset
The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon. The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon. The Apollo 8 mission was the first crewed spacecraft to circumnavigate the Moon.
For more imagery from the mission, visit our Artemis II Multimedia Page.
As someone who loves the Artemis was in love with Orion variant I got a little teary eyed with this
fuck you all this post is about my cats now
"Copy, moon joy"
thank you NASA and every member of Artemis II mission for giving me 10 wonderful days of hope and joy for humanity <3
Artemis placed Orion in the stars after he died. Her best friend died and She gave him a constellation. Now an astronaut on Her mission, in orion's spacecraft, gave his wife a place on the moon. We look up at the sky and we can still see the ones we've lost. The stars are, and have always been, a memorial.
