I'm so annoyed by this game that I don't even know how to phrase it correctly.
I hate talking about this team in a negative manner. But JFC, the loss tonight was dumb. The Bruins played sloppy and gave us every chance at scoring on them in the first period. Yet somehow the score after the first was 3-0. The refs were giving us every powerplay they possibly could and obviously, they score shorthanded twice. I mean, this is embarrassing. I love this team, i really, truly do. But if they had just played up to their ability in the first, none of those goals would have happened. I don't get the Devils lately. They proved tonight that they could score without Kovy. I understand he has an impact on the way they play, obviously, but their playing style should not be centered on him because players get hurt. I just don't get it.
But I can take some positives from this game, like:
They scored 4 goals tonight, which is great, compared to the fact that these past few games have been 1-2 goal games.
AWESOME!They can score short-handed without Kovy boy and they killed a five minute major. I knew they could, but it's nice to see it continue to happen.
This team knows how to play under pressure. If they could just watch this game and play like they did in the 3rd or even most of the 2nd period, from beginning to end, they can definitely win because the Bruins weren't really outplaying them.
And on a serious note, the booing of injured players on the opposing team needs to stop right now. When a Bruin or any other opponent struggles to get up off the ice after getting elbowed in the back of the head is not something to take lightly. For all we know, Marchand could have a bad concussion. But even if he doesn't, it's still way beyond classless to boo him as he struggles off the ice. I don't know why I'm always surprised when the Devils fan base does this but yet I always am. And I know this isn't just Devils fans, but we should stop calling Rangers fans classless if this is the type of thing you do when a player gets hurt.
Be kind guys. You'd hate if the other team disrespected your player so why would you do it back. Two wrongs truly don't make a right.
