i just want to start this off by saying he doesn't use instagram. he has maybe 20 followers and he's private, so when he posts, it's pretty much a big deal xx

1. train ride to new haven, connecticut. she still has his jacket, he still doesn't want it back. he was going out of town and decided last minute to invite her when he saw her name pop up on his phone screen. it gave them both the opportunity to enjoy each other's company more intimately than they have in the past, avoiding whispers and stares (not that he ever cared about that). when she seemed to have zoned out into space, he quickly snapped this picture, coming to the realization that she mends something inside of him that's been broken for a long time.

2. she stayed the night at his place, a first for him. it's not that he minds women staying over, but he has an irrational worry of them snooping through his things because he's very private. let down by radiohead was playing in the background while he made them dinner. sleeves of his dress shirt rolled up to his elbows, watching the temp to make sure he didn't burn it. he's never made food for anyone else before. only memory he can recollect of it is when his mother used to make him chicken noodle soup times he was sick before she passed away. she looked too pretty not to take a photo.

3. she told him to scream and so he did. they were taking a walk by the water closer to 6pm after one of his late night work shifts just watching people taking their normal runs, feeding birds, riding their bikes. despite it all, it was still quiet and she could tell he was more reserved than usual. he received a phone call that clearly affected him so when she noticed the switch in his mood, that's when she grabbed his arm and stopped him in the middle of the path. told him right then to let it out. when he did, he felt freer. she took this picture as a reminder of that moment. his dad may be dead but it didn't mean he had to be.

4. after one of the communal charity events that he was forced to attend on behalf of his dead father. it was nearing the end of summer and she looked even more beautiful. they may have had a little too much wine that night, he felt her up against the side of the building before calling them both a car back to his place. later that night, he decided he was going to kiss her but waited until she made the first move. when their lips touched, he's sure he reached heaven. the penny he picked up earlier that night burns in his back pocket as a reminder of the kind of luck it just brought him. he put it in his wallet when she was sleeping.

' i'm hearing a lot of complaints from someone who should be thankful i was here tonight ' coughs a laugh, emptying the content of his drink as he leans against the bar, gaze never leaving the other. ' he was a piece of shit, i got you out of a bad one ' unbelievable, but he'd be going with that one anyway.
