there wasn’t much that the iowan could say when his friend april had left the world of wrestling other than a good luck and a hope for a call from time to time so that the two wouldn’t become strangers, but as the time past and things got more complicated with timing, the conversations fell from full length paragraphs and light-hearted phone calls to one worded check ups just to know that the other was okay. and for a long time, colby had been just fine with that. he was busy with his chosen path and so was she. they were mature enough to understand it and even if the contact was light, he still held her close to heart. she was a good friend of his and would always remain that way. but still, after months of frustration and the loss of two good friends by his side, he found himself wondering about her and how she was fairing. so fingertips tapped away at the keyboard of his phone, a message to say she was missed and to wish her a happy holiday, the send button soon following as he slipped on the second earbud into it’s place in his ear, the sounds of another favorited band chiming in as he sat in the lobby of whatever airport they were in now. he clearly stopped paying attention long ago and as long as he set foot in the proper town, he didn’t see why that little detail would matter any more.
