The music was loud and booming but Rowan’s friends seemed to really enjoy the ambiance at the club. After another drink from the bar, they set out onto the dance floor to get a bit wild on a Friday night.
After some coaxing from Kimberley, Rowan joined the others on the dance floor. At first, she felt stupid.. Trying to move along to the music was still an unfamiliar feeling. Well, she had danced along to music often enough in her bedroom but it was the crowd that made her feel uncomfortable. She relaxed quickly enough though after she realized that nobody was looking at her and were all just doing their own thing.

When Rowan returned from the bathroom, it was no surprise to her that Kimberley and Devin were nowhere to be found and had probably taken off somewhere together. It was however a surprise that her other dorm mates had also left the bar area and Rowan didn’t see them outside anymore. She took a quick look at the dance floor but didn’t spot them there either.
Before heading back inside, she decided to order a drink before she went looking for her friends.
???: “Oh.. Hey! Rowan!”
Rowan was woken up by a tap on her bedroom door. Startled by the sudden noise, Rowan accidentally threw her pencil case on the floor. She left the pens on the floor and went to open her door.
Tawney: “Hey, Ro.. What the hell was that noise? Did I wake you?” Rowan: *laughs* “Perhaps..” Tawney: “I’m sorry! I just wanted to let you know that dinner is ready.” Rowan: “Oh.. Thanks! Let me just pick up these pens and I’ll be right over.” Tawney: *laughs* “Good. You better not skip dinner because it’s your turn to clean up afterwards.”
Rowan laughed, knowing very well she referenced to Devin who usually skipped their dorm’s Sunday dinner together when it was his turn to clean up. Tawney went ahead and Rowan followed close behind her. Noah had prepared mac ‘n cheese tonight and she smell of it made Rowan’s mouth water.

Rowan: “I didn’t know you two were together?” Kimberley: “We’re not!” Rowan: “No? So all that snogging is just... casual snogging between friends?”
A big grin appeared on Devin’s face as he watched Kimberley struggle to find the words to explain. When she failed to do so, Devin started talking instead.
Devin: “Sure is. But I’m guessing you do a lot more than just snogging with that prince of yours, Rowan.”
Rowan grinned at Devin’s way to turn the situation around again, although the way he called Rick ‘prince’ did get on her nerves. All Rowan’s dorm mates were very supporting of her relationship with Rick but once they learned that Rick’s parents had quite a bit of money, they started calling him weird nicknames. Rowan knew the nicknames were all meant in good fun but they still annoyed her.
Rowan: “Oh I do.. but that isn’t really a secret, is it? Your not-a-relationship seems to be very secret though. Don’t worry, I’ll keep my mouth shut and retreat to my bedroom.” Kimberley: “No, no! Ro! Stay for a bit.”
Rowan plopped down on the couch next to Kimberley, who put her arm around Rowan and hugged her close. Kimberley was Rowan’s closest friend at the moment. She also studied to become a vet and they had met on the first day of their first year. They had gone through university together over the years, complaining and whining about the subjects they had to study. In the second year of university one of Kimberley’s dorm mates moved out and she invited Rowan to live here, which was one of the best decisions Rowan had made over the years.
Being friends with Kimberley had many good sides.. but it did become slightly awkward when she found out her last name was ‘Shields’. Rowan didn’t realize at the time but Kimberley was Juliet’s cousin. Juliet and Kimberley were really close too and she visited Kimberley at least once per week. The friendship between Juliet and Rowan had diminished ever since the day that Tyler kissed Rowan. Nowadays they could talk normally again but it still wasn’t like it used to be.
Kimberley: “We’re going drinking tonight? Me, Devin, Tawney and Noah? Do you want to come along?” Rowan: “While going out on a Sunday evening and drink sounds like a lovely plan the day before I start my internship, I think I’ll pass? I’m awfully tired..” Kimberley: “Aw, c’mon! Let’s celebrate our last day of freedom before we’re slaves to our alarm clocks every morning. Besides, we weren’t planning to stay out long. Maybe until twelve?” Rowan: *laughs* “Knowing you and Devin? Sure, Kimb.. But you go have fun. Just be careful. You wouldn’t want to get fired on your first day, hm?” Kimberley: “They can’t fire interns right?!” Rowan: “I don’t know? Maybe? I’m sure you would manage to though.” *winks* Kimberley: “Rude!”
