Devin Wilton Backstory Worgen AU

Here have my backstory I came up for my self-insert Devin Wilton, but this time as a Worgen! Here we go!

Backstory:

Similarly to his Forsaken AU, Devin grew up in Westfall on a farm. Truth be told he didn’t like it. He hated farming and he grew tired of living in the country! So as he got older he began studying to he could grow up to not be a farmer. He wanted to go away and study somewhere. And so he did! During his late teens he left Westfall and found himself studying in Stormwind, he didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life exactly but his choices were limitless in the city!  Eventually he found himself drawn to magic, he found it fascinating. He decided what better place to study different aspects of magic than in Dalaran, and soon he found himself living in the floating city (Northrend one at the time).  

During his time in Dalaran he would return home to Westfall to visit his family for holidays, it was during one of these visits that Devin had heard rumors of lupine creatures in Duskwood. With his family’s farm so close to the dark forest he was curious if the rumors were true and decided to look into it. Asking around the young man eventually found himself in Duskwood, to a small encampment near the border of Westfall, Raven Hill... which seemed abandoned.

It was here that poor Devin’s life would be changed forever. It was here that the man would encounter the rumored wolf-like creature. A worgen. The creature ambushed him from the shadows and he was bitten. Within hours he would experience the most terrifying, and painful, moment of his life as he transformed into the very creature that bit him. 

The next several months the newly turned Worgen spent his time running the forests and farmsteads of Duskwood in a feral state, every now and then struggling as he got glimpses of his humanity and sentience only to slip back into his feral rage. Hope seemed lost until the arrival of the Gilneans in Duskwood. This group of people who shared the same affliction as Devin, only seemingly able to control it, they worked to save the worgen in the area. 

Among those worgen was Devin, he was captured and held in a cage to prevent him from lashing out, sedated to make sure he didn’t try to break free, and then eventually administered a magical salve that miraculously gave him his mind back. Though he had his mind back and the feral rage was held at bay Devin was still unable to return to his human state... as would be the case for several months until he learned to accept what he had become. 

Eventually, learning to accept his new life as a worgen, with the help of the salve was able to return to his human state, but it was never permanent. All it would take is the strong scent of blood or something making him angry, and the man would find himself forced against his will to transform back to his lupine form. Devin spent the following years helping the Gilneans in Duskwood try to cure other worgen, all the while learning to try and control his own bloodlust. 

It wasn’t until the Legion invasion that Devin found the courage to finally leave Duskwood and wander back into the world to make a new life for himself. Working odd jobs here and there to make money, attending parties and events to have fun and enjoy life as much as possible and stay positive. All the while hiding his true nature from the world despite the Alliance’s acceptance of the Worgen from Gilneas, he didn’t believe that people would understand his inner bloodlust. And no matter how much he tries to hide his worgen affliction every now and the beast comes out.

Devin Wilton’s Backstory

Here have my backstory I came up for my self-insert Devin Wilton. Here we go!

Backstory:

Devin grew up in Westfall, on a farm. Truth be told he didn’t like it. He hated farming and he grew tired of living in the country! So as he got older he began studying to he could grow up to not be a farmer. He wanted to go away and study somewhere. And so he did! 

During his late teens he left Westfall and found himself studying in Stormwind, he didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life exactly but his choices were limitless in the city! Eventually he found himself drawn to magic, he found it fascinating. He decided what better place to study different aspects of magic than in Dalaran, and soon he found himself living in the floating city (Northrend one at the time).  

It was of course during his time in Dalaran that he learned of the amazing creatures that are Worgen. The very idea of men that turned to beasts was interesting to him and he had to understand how the curse worked! He had to see it for himself (no one said Devin was the smartest), and with this in mind he setout from Dalaran to Silverpine Forest to begin his research.

This is where things take a turn for the poor man, and fate finds itself to be a cruel cruel entity. Luck was not on his side for while Devin conducted his research and searched the forests of Silverpine Forest for signs of Worgen it was then that he would lose his life.... to the rabid wildlife in the area.

Of course, fate would be even crueler! For he found no rest in death. Among many of the other corpses collected by the Forsaken, Devin was one of the newly raised Forsaken by Sylvanas’ Val’kyr shortly after the Cataclysm. Ironic. He was researching one monster and ended up becoming a different one. After he raised Devin was crazed and freely roamed Silverpine, he then spent much of his first year or so wandering aimlessly in Silverpine, Hillsbrad, and Western Plaguelands trying to figure out who he was now as a newly raised corpse.

Eventually Devin would come to grips with his new condition, after all he never had to sleep, he never had to eat, he would never grow old and die? What wasn’t to love about it? Other than the dull emotions and lack of senses... He could drink and party and do whatever he wanted now!

Only... he was now Forsaken. He had to adjust to this new life among those of his own kind. Something he found very difficult because many of his kind seemed to have a strange “death to the living” outlook on life.

Nevertheless, over the years Devin has gone accustomed to this new un-life, and with all the free time he had he spent it learning how to shoot a pistol and even taking up studying shadow magic. I mean he was undead now so why not go the full spooky route by being one with the shadows as well?

 It’s been an interesting change but one he accepted and now spent most of his days wandering Azeroth and attending random parties to drink and socialize when he can.

(Sidenote. What’s funny is I really thought about it, if I were to be placed into WoW I likely would either be a Worgen or Forsaken.)
