June 8, 2018: Five years ago today, the Danube river receded after reaching more than ten metres in height. Subsequently, homeowners in Devínska Nová Ves had a lot of cleaning up to do.
It has been a year since the 2010 Bratislava shooting.
The 2010 Bratislava shooting, or Devínska Nová Ves shooting, occurred on 30 August 2010 when eight people (including the perpetrator) died and at least 17 were injured after a lone gunman opened fire in Devínska Nová Ves district in a suburb of the Slovak capital, Bratislava. The shooting spree took place both inside a local panel building and later in the street outside.

(Please note: Slovakia is NOT a third world country. We do NOT have wars anymore so what happened that day was not normal, especially for such a peaceful place like Devinska Nova Ves.)
