Petrov's Story

Dear Mama, It seems like so long ago since I left home for Stalingrad. It's cold here, so very cold. I'm working Under General Chukov in the Russian high command. They look after me, they keep me safe. I run messages for them and take orders, I am important mama. Guriev and I work together to get the job done. I don't know what I would do with out her, she is the sister I never had. It is horrible here, death and horror surrounds us like a straight jacket, there is no escaping it. I miss you, and Pa and Viktor every day. I want to be a hero, I want to be like Viktor, I want to make your proud. At least I have hope of seeing you again one day, I will never see Pa again. Ever since he died I have felt like part of me was missing, part of us was missing. I pray every night for yours and Viktor's safety, and I hope you are praying for mine. Your loving daughter, Petrov.
