devkimiko replied to your post “i feel kinda bad for people who’ve just seen Fury Road and are now...”
I hadn't seen the first one until recently either so I wouldn't be surprised if most people's Mad Max experience is with Road Warrior. The first one is still pretty interesting tho (albeit a slow build)
Yeah. Mostly I hear about Road Warrior and ThunderDome? Which is understandable because, like your said. The first one is kinda slow. And it doesn’t have quite the same aesthetic as the others, which is what attracts a lot of people? It’s a lot less fantastical (or apocalyptic) and stylised (but still pretty definite in that it’s not trying to be real)? But it adds some interesting background to the series.
annnnd I’m gonna stop now because I just wrote two+ paragraphs of how it establishes the gangs and the dynamic there and the role of women in the series and eeeeh mad max.
it’s a passion.
