The two circled are the two mentioned

Devlin (the human) is an unlucky boy who has a gun

And Elizabeth (the anglerfish monster) is a big strong woman with a sword

Elizabeth was the one who found Devlin and took him on the ship. She trys to take care of him, but his bad luck makes him very accident prone

Devlin's main goal is finding and killing the monster that killed his father many years ago. And he often stays awake watching the ocean to see if it's there just in case it attacks

Elizabeth knows humans need sleep and will forcefully tuck him into bed to the point that sometimes he literally can't get out of bed because he's tucked in way too tightly
