UM “Pay the Bargin“

When Devonte uses his UM, he can gift someone anything they want, from money to the ability to fly. However, that person then has 3 days to give Devonte what he wants. If that person pays their end of the bargain, they are safe and get to keep what they asked for. If they don’t, their gift automatically disappears, and a curse is placed on them.

Devonte is the grumpy, short tempered one compared to his brother. Known for his acerbic, prickly personality, many find it difficult to have the courage to speak to him. He always seems to be in an irritable mood, as a nasty scowl always paints his face. Devonte is a bit rash, following a “Punch first, Ask questions later” philosophy. He is FIERCELY protective of those he cares about, and will not hesitate to fight for his loved ones.

Devonte is twin brother of Rogelio, only younger by a couple minutes. The two were orphaned when they were babies, so they lived in an orphanage. It was a tough and grim orphanage, where bloody fights and stealing wasn’t uncommon. The two brother had to fend for themselves every day to survive. When the two were in their late preteens, they were adopted by Mr. Styles (Twst Sykes), the Captain and boss of Sykes Cruise. There’s rumors that their Dad is also a M*fia Boss, but there isn’t concrete evidence. Their Dad plans to pass down the business to the brothers when he retires.

Devonte and Ceres Love Story (Part 1)

Devonte’s garden was precious to him.

No one would expect a scary guy like him to have a garden at NRC, but he did. It was in a hidden area in the Botanical Garden so no one could bother it, and it was a place where he’d usually have some peace. He took great care of the fruits and vegetables he grew, making sure they were good for whatever he had to cook.

Because he was well know for being a quick tempered grump, many were wise enough to not touch Devonte’s garden. The few students who tried messing with it…well, they didn’t leave unscathed. Otherwise, his garden was free from troublemakers. But at some point, Devonte noticed an…interesting visitor.

At some point, whenever Devonte went to his garden, basket and tools in hand, there was a good chance a certain someone would be there, staring silently at the garden. But he never stayed around, as the moment his dog ears caught the sound of Devonte approaching, he’d quickly walk away, not giving the Octavinelle student a chance to speak or even approach.

Devonte usually didn’t care about knowing the other students at NRC, but the student certainly piqued his interest a bit. Unfortunately, he didn’t share a class with that student, and the student was never seen interacting with others. Granted, the student was in Ignihyde, so that probably shouldn’t have surprised Devonte.

Then the incident happened.

Devonte was gathering some vegetables that had become ripe when he heard footsteps approaching, his dog ears twitching.

“What do you want?” was Devonte’s deadpan greeting, not looking up from gathering the vegetables. He heard the footsteps getting a bit too close. “Don’t touch anything.” Devonte spoke up again, still busying himself with getting the cabbages.

Then he heard the person begin plucking the tomatoes. Devonte quickly stood up and whipped his head, a livid scowl on his face.

“What the FUCK did I just tell you?!” Devonte snarled, the garden scythe clutched in his hand. The offender turned around, looking at the Octavinelle with an offended scoff. The jerk looked like he was from Heartslabyul, guessing from the bright red vest.

“I need these for an Unbirthday Party, mind your business.” The Heartslabyul student quipped as he plucked another tomato. Devonte had to resist the urge to choke the bitch.

“‘Mind my business-‘ this is my FUCKING GARDEN!!” Devonte snapped.

“So? Everyone uses the Botanical Garden, it’s not yours to hog it. I need these tomatoes, don’t be so selfish.” The Heartslabyul student fired back. This student was either really brave or really stupid. Probably both.

“I would’ve let you have some if you just fucking asked me, jackass!” Devonte yelled, so ready to punch him where the sun doesn’t shine. “Get the FUCK OUT, or I’ll shove this scythe up your high and mighty ass!” He threatened.

The Heartslabyul student scoffed again.

“Like I said, I ne-“

“He said go, so fuck off.”

Both Devonte and the intruder were shocked by the new guy speaking, especially Devonte, because how the hell did he not hear him coming? The guy had also yanked the Heartslabyul student by the back of his collar as he spoke.

The Heartslabyul student looked like he wanted to say something, but whatever smarmy remark he had died on his lips as he saw the guy’s sharp glare. Realizing that he wasn’t winning this battle, the Heartslabyul student scrammed, dropping the tomatoes on the ground.

Devonte rubbed his forehead, a ‘Thanks’ forming on his lips, but then he stopped, realizing that the guy who defended him looked VERY familiar. Very dark skin, long black dreadlocks, dog ears with piercings…

“You’re the one who keeps showing up to my garden.” Devonte blurted out. The Ignihyde student’s red eyes looked away, a bit of shame forming on his face.

“Sorry…” Was the Ignihyde student’s response. Devonte scratched the back of his head awkwardly. His social skills were not much better than this guy’s.

“You’re fine. You don’t fuck with anything. And…thanks.” Devonte responded.

The Ignihyde student looked down at the tomatoes. Getting down on one knee, he began picking them up. Devonte kneeled down too, grabbing the other two tomatoes. Standing up, the Ignihyde student quietly handed him the other tomatoes.

Devonte quietly noted that he was kind of cute, but refused to say that out loud.

He thanked the Ignihyde student, but before he could speak, the dark skinned Beastman was already walking away.
