njd rambles

i am so fascinated by whatever is going on in the njd locker room. didn’t really buy into the rumors that there were personal/non hockey related issues on the team, but watching that jets game was brutal. nico literally ties the game 1-1 in the first period and no one gives a shit. he didn’t smile like and the other teammates barely celly-ed. you’d think it was a goal they got while down 9 in the third or something. fully back in the game, could easily get a win and get the vibes back but it’s like they already gave up. lowkey crazy. i know there are rumors that fitz tried to get players to waive their ntcs when trying to get quinn, and i’m starting to believe it. obviously hamilton’s shit got aired out but he’s just one guy. a package for quinn from the devils would have had to be Big Time. brings up a lot of ugly questions. also what’s weird is they’re only on a four game skid right now which isn’t great, but not terrible and still have enough points from early season to keep them in a playoff push if they get it together before the olympics. jack came back and it seemed like vibes were good, he was doing pap walks like!! then they lose against the hurricanes sortof because of luke and everything goes to complete shit. almost like there was a bomb just waiting to go off and the wins they got earlier were held together by duct tape and a dream. i’m honestly probably just being too influenced by doomer redditors but i think they do have some reason to feel weird about whatever went down at the dinner because the downfall can basically be traced back to that. jack’s “freak accident” is always going to be really fucking weird (you can not tell me a professional athlete with elite hand eye coordination accidentally leans on glassware hard enough to cut through his finger. normal, unathletic people don’t do that, no matter how wasted). also idk what his media roles are but it feels like forever since he did a scrum which is unfortunate. idk. maybe in like ten years someone on this team will spill but if until then we can only speculate. but you know things are bad when normal fans are basically writing rpf about team dynamics and how players are “taking sides” within the locker room. of course naturally a lot of the blame falls on the coach and gm, but man i can’t forget the reaction, or lack of really, from that nico goal. that doesn’t have to do with coaching.. that’s purely the players and their relationships.

i am so sorry for devils fans like jeezus. tbh, having two brothers on the same team is one of things that’s amazing when good but can so easily turn ugly very quickly and causes really over the top reactions from fans. a brutal double edged sword.

heyyy fully rpfing out here but what do you think of jhughes' place (and now tzegras' place I guess lmaooo) in the great nico-nolpat-tk narrative?

wow the strange and wonderful web that can twisted between these five guys lmao. tbh i know the fact that nico and nolpat drifted apart is sad (within a vacuum) but i think they both lucked out with nolpat immediately finding another fishing+hunting loving canadian that is his perfect opposite personality and nico being able to help out another 1OA that struggled a bit at first. nico + np is like the fun orientation week freshman year situationship that obviously was going to go no where but there's no bad feelings and they both needed each other in the moment because of the stressful new environment. both found better long term matches in their respective teams yipee!

of course the story divulges a couple years later because nico and jack are still together and fine (hm..) but tknp.. yikes. i seriously can not imagine that tk does not see some reflection of himself with tz and jd. did he tell tz that close bonded friendships never work out in the league? or does he just observe and give subtle nudges to draw tz away from that tragic storyline?
