Okay, but for real: what was up with Phoebe and Dex in season 8? Like it’s your final season and you want to give Phoebe her endgame love interest, but you only have so much time left to do it. Why waste the first third of the season on a guy that she temporarily hooks up with and then their relationship vaporizes? What was the point of that? Was Dex originally supposed to be her endgame but they ended up not being able to work with the actor? Because like, they knew it was their last season and they still did. That.

I know that people dislike Phoebe and Coop, but man, they had one more episode together than Phoebe and Dex and infinitely more chemistry and interest with them. Like I could not remember Dex’s last name until I look it up, the man has nothing going for him besides generic white guy good looks. Like what personality did this man have? He doesn’t even have an interesting dynamic with Phoebe, but the show wasted the first third on a relationship that went nowhere. It’s legitimately baffling to me.

ok but a season eight where Phoebe really is pregnant, and she and Dex have to learn how to live together for the sake of their kid, and they have to actually communicate for once, learning who the other person actually is. Dex gets to know Phoebe for Phoebe, not the image he built up in his mind before she "died" or the Julie persona he fell for the first time, and Phoebe gets to know Dex as more than just "father of my premonition baby".

dex learns phoebe is a wildly complex individual with multiple tragedies in her past that help sculpt her into the woman she is an phoebe learns that wow dex actually really does have no personality. & that he’s from arizona.
