Dear Dexter Wade, I am so so sorry you were so failed by people. People who claim they are here to protect and serve the community (lies)
you shouldn't have been killed in the manner you were. you should have come home to your mom, your little girls, your family.
im so upset that no one is being held accountable for what happened to you. I am so upset that so many people will forget your name and face, while your family will forever live with a hole in their hearts.
you were so failed. i saw the pain on your mother's face as she stood by the sorry excuse for a grave you were given. you were so so loved. when i look at pictures of your face, i am reminded of my own father.
The father who doted on his little girl (me), my father also struggled with Bipolar and Schizophrenia before he died. My heart is broken, so many Black people die and are swiftly forgotten... I hope I never forget your name, I hope I forever remember your face.
I pray that your family is one day able to find some sort of peace. I hope you are at rest, and i hope that you knew how loved and valued you were and still are.
Tonight I will be thinking of you and my own father. I will lift your names to the skies above and plead with the universe that you are both granted peace in the afterlife.
I am so sorry that your story is far far too common. I pray that one day your story will NOT be the norm, and that we will not have to live in fear of the police.
~Signed, a very pissed off and sad Black Woman
