CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA ⇢ 1x07
You can come with me, if you want. And why would I do that? Boys. Lots and lots of mortal boys. To torment. And seduce. Or both. Who knows, Prudence, maybe you'll find the meaning of life at Baxter High. Oh, you had me at boys to torment.
Maybe desmelda looks way older because she left her church/coven and that somehow affects her magic?
That’s definitely a possibility! I’m also sure that Zelda goes to great lengths to look young and preserve her youth, whereas Dezmelda would probably do no such thing, since she lives alone.
“You used magic on a mortal, to protect a mortal.” Beneath the veneer of accusation, her voice resonated with awe.
"I could not, in good conscious, simply stand by and watch my niece's friend die. Besides, Theo is one of the good ones," Zelda said, placing her mug of Satan-knows what kind of tea on the log table in front of her, "I merely came by to say thank you for the spell, but I'll take my leave if you're to mock me for my choices."
Zelda stood, glaring down the wood witch sat across from her. She tapped her knobby fingers a few times, giving Zelda's stiff posture a once over before smiling.
"You always were too maternal for your own good Zelda Spellman," Dezmelda said, placing her own mug down before gesturing for Zelda to sit once more. She did so reluctantly, her mouth still set in a grim line.
"What on earth is that supposed to mean?" the younger witch asked, inwardly grateful that Dezmelda had asked her to stay. Ever since Zelda had entrusted Leticia to Dezmelda, she had visited the hedge witch once a week; at first it was so that Zelda could check in and spend time with the babe in secret, but after discovering that she and Dezmelda had a great many things in common, they continued their weekly get-togethers, even after Blackwood had snatched Leticia away. Though Zelda would never admit it to another living soul, Dezmelda had played a large role in her healing from the loss of Leticia.
"Nevermind dear. Now, why don't you fill me in on how Sabrina managed to endanger her friend's lives this time?"

We need to talk about Dezmelda.
I’ve seen some great meta about how Lilith was around back then, when Dezmelda’s High Priest was selecting little girls each year for “initiation” before killing them—the perfect victim, because dead girls tell no tales—but how does Zelda know about Dezmelda? Presumably, Zelda wasn’t alive when it happened, and I’m not sure the Church of Night would want its congregants to know about the girl who ran away from a sacred tradition. So how did Zelda find out about Dezmelda, and why did she assume that they had a good enough relationship with one another that she could just dump a kidnapped infant in the crone’s lap, and Dezmelda would just go along with it...? Like that implies history, trust, love, etc, for Zelda to be so certain this hedge witch who has been separate from the church for centuries would be willing to raise Leticia and keep her safe from harm.
Also, when the gun shots go off while Lilith, Sabrina, and the Weird Sisters are visiting Dezmelda, she says: “Who else have you brought to this place?!” As if her location is a closely-guarded secret. It seems that Lilith and Zelda are the only witches who actually know where she lives. This seems significant somehow, that Dezmelda trusts Zelda as much as she trusted Lilith (before the Kinkle debacle) to not reveal her home to anyone else.
Does anyone else have thoughts on this?
