The bakery was once again closed for unnecessary renovations, her stepmother’s doing of course. Knowing that if she stayed at home she would be running around all day completing a list of chores as long as her arm, Ella slipped away from the house before anyone was up.

The day was unusually sunny, so she headed to the park, where she read and soaked in the sun for the first time in ages. After a few hours though, her stomach began to grumble. There were pubs closer to where she was, but it had been a while since she had seen her old friend. 

Walking into the pub, Ella immediately heading to one of the chairs by the bar. “Afternoon, Boromir,” she greeted cheerfully, “how are you today?”
