It was around 5pm when Roxy returned home early from work, absolutely exhausted. She pushed the front door open and called out, “hello?” as she put her keys down on the cabinet in the hallway. She shrugged off her coat and hung it up, listening out for any noises made by her husband, Finn, or their daughter, Elsa. She’d recently turned two years old and she was the most precious thing Roxy had ever seen. She couldn’t quite work out how she’d managed to make something so beautiful - she’d obviously inherited her dad’s genes, as he was the most perfect man to have ever lived, in Roxy’s eyes. Suddenly, Finn appeared from the kitchen, looking worried and out of breath. He looked surprised to see Roxy and he immediately straightened up and smiled. “Err… Alright?” he smiled, although he looked terribly uncomfortable and that made Roxy’s heart drop. “Wha’s up? Wha’s goin’ on?” she asked suspiciously, moving towards him with the death glare that all wives had when they knew their husband was up to something. “Where’s Elsa?”Finn’s sheepish expression was enough to tell Roxy that he was as clueless as she was. This was completely typical of him; he could be the perfect dad one day, and then completely useless the next. “Please don’t tell me ya lost our daughter,” she said, her voice stern. Don’t worreh, Rox, we’ll be fine ‘ere while ya go to work. Trust meh. What utter bollocks. “Finn! It wa’ ma first day at ma new job an’ you’ve gone an’ lost our kid?! Ya told me everythin’ would be fine, ya told me to trust ya! Ya such a useless idiot sometimes, d’ya know tha’?!” Just as Roxy was about to storm upstairs in search for the toddler she saw her emerge from beside Finn in the doorway, holding a small plate of cookies. “Ta-da,” Elsa mumbled, her grin wide. Finn smiled awkwardly. “Yeah… This was a surprise. We made ya cookies ‘cause it was ya first day an’ everythin’.” “Oh…” Roxy chewed her lip. Fuck. “Err… Sorry.”Finn gently took the plate from his daughter’s hands and lifted Elsa up, kissing her on the cheek and grinning when she tried to squeeze his nose. Finn walked past Roxy and up onto the stairs, looking down at his wife with a grin. “Ya know, for a useless idiot, I can’t ‘alf make some nice cookies. Shame ya won’t be gettin’ any, ain’t it? Love ya too, Rox.”
