@sapocipo found a frieze depicting women interacting with the Cupids and said someone should draw one of the poses as Aphrodite and Eros, so I locked in.

I don't think my version of Aphrodite would hold him like this at all, and it's not canonical to them, but it's still funny to draw.

I like to think that Aphrodite and her attendees all gather around and read romance books out loud just to have a good laugh. Recently, I realized that means that it must include all of those romance retellings of Greek mythology and maybe even Greek myth media that isn't romance related. Which means Aphrodite and Aglaea must know about how modern media talks about the Ares and Aphrodite affair, and how they never acknowledge that Aphrodite and Hephaestus end up getting divorced, and that Hephaestus ends up marrying Aglaea and has multiple children with her. Seeing all of the weird changes people make to the myth while ignoring how things turned out in the end must piss them off a lot.

Also, Aglaea has scars on her fingers because she also likes to work at the forge and make things with Hephaestus. Aphrodite also has scars, which are under her clothes, and some are from battle as reference to her Areia epithet, and the others are just stretchmarks from all of her pregnancies. Aglaea most definitely also has stretchmarks from her own pregnancies.

Aphrodite has many scars, from pregnancy and war— in reference to her Areia epithet and worship as a war goddess in Sparta. I'm thinking that her scars are from the Gigantomachy, since that is the only time we ever see Aphrodite actually fighting in text and artwork (against the giant, Mimon), to my knowledge, so they are not very old scars during the events of the comic.

For the sketch, I only had one scar on her chest, but I decided that wasn't enough. She needed more.

Based on the time, I was explaining Mystery Flesh Pit National Park lore, and it got to the topic of aphrodisiacs because of the Coke Heartthrob, but my friend didn't know what aphrodisiacs were, so when we asked him what he thought it was since it related to Aphrodite, he said "A kiss???". That was an insane sentence, I'm so sorry. But I absolutely do not blame him since I didn't know what 'libido' meant.

Also, yes, Ares is wearing a flower crown. My favorite genre of classical painting is when Ares is with Aphrodite and he is wearing a flower crown, that and when the Erotes are playing with his weapons and armor, and he just let's it happen.

A majority of Desire for Peace is just me taking stuff people have done with the gods and doing the opposite, not because I think it makes me smart or cool, but because I find it super hilarious.

For example, you'd expect Ares would have a crazy sex life and does it all of the time with Aphrodite, considering he is with the actual goddess of sex.

Nope.

They spend many nights with Aphrodite reading an intense horror novel (no romance in it at all) and Ares reading The Moomins before they both just pass out.
