Better Information. Better Tools. Better Decisions.
The 2016 NBA DFS season is quickly approaching. In light of this I'm going to be developing and deploying some new tools for DFS players that I believe are very cool.
Among the new tools will be:
Player fantasy points projections using advanced analytics
Start/Sit toggles within the optimizer to allow you to quickly create new lineups as new information becomes available
The ability to upload your own fantasy points projections for optimization
Lists to help you identify players that should they start would be tremendous value
Player graphing and trend analysis for some common metrics
Optimal bet size calculators (Kelly criterion based)
Anything else that happens to pop into my head between now and Oct/Nov
The goal is to build a platform that allows rapid end to end NBA DFS analysis without needing to switch between web pages.
To give you a taste here is a link to a rough draft of the Quantifan Lineup Optimizer. Very much a work in progress, but as you can see it rapidly enables the creation of optimal (and slightly sub-optimal) lineups. Don't worry it'll get prettier.
In case you are wondering what the column headers mean:
salary = Draft Kings Salary
game_info = Upcoming player game
fp_bench = Placeholder for bench fantasy points projections
fp_start = Placeholder for starting fantasy points projections
fp = Fantasy points projection used
selected = Indicates whether a player was selected as part of the optimal lineup
opt_sol = Indicates the expected solution points
sol_number = Solution number to which a set of players belong (1 through 20)
The question I'm interested in is what DFS tools do you wish you had access to but don't? Below are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
Automatically build Twitter searches for your optimal team players to determine start / sit status?
Player sentiment analysis? (e.g. Do people feel good about playing Kyrie Irving tonight?)
Vegas lines for each game?
