Question about Sie/Du?
"Hey I had a question about German: I was reading in WALS about the T-V Distincion, and it says that the only time that either Sie or du would not be reciprocated (both call each other one or the other) is in the case of a parent and their child. Does this mean that in the classroom Sie is used both when the students address the teacher, and the teacher addresses a student? It could have just been a bit of a careless slip of course :P"

As far as I know, it's a bit too formal for kids to refer to their parents as "Sie" nowadays - I believe they both refer to each other as "du". And in my German classes, I believe the teacher referred to the students as "du" and we referred to the teacher as "Sie". I could be wrong though! Can any native speakers help?
