Aside from the distinctive Arabic print on the top edge of the book “Recursive Sequence 2″ by Islam Aly displays the stylistic and varied representations of the Arabic letter “ض” (Dhaad, transliterated loosely). The different styles of “ض” are reminiscent of the scripts found in the Qur’an, mosques, street and bus signs, shops, universities, and advertisements in the Middle East, North Africa, and other Arabic speaking countries. After browsing through the book, the variation of styles also seems to give a nod to pop culture.
