the smosh fandom needs to stop infantilizing cast members. parasocial stuff too. you do not know these people. they don’t know you. stop acting as if you have jurisdiction over what they decide in their life. yes, we can obviously think things about people. i’m not saying to not interact or be interested in their lives, but they don’t owe you shit. they are human beings. how would you feel if someone you didn’t know wanted you dead because you entered a relationship/said something they disagree with? everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. (unless you’re a trumpie, that i shan’t forgive but that’s just me)

this fandom loves violating boundaries. if someone tells you to not talk about their personal life, you should shut the fuck up. no ifs, no buts,NOTHING. it does NOT matter if the person he is dating is awful its none of your business and its not your responsibility.

Leave Damien's personal life the fuck alone! Who he is with is none of your business and you're doing what he has publically said he hates for people to do.

i don’t know if anyone else has commented on this but I find it incredibly weird that Damien’s ex friends have been talking to these parasocial stalking fans in general. That’s actually really scary and highly irresponsible on their part. I don’t know these people but I honestly don’t like the idea of someone reaching out to talk to an old friend of a “celebrity” and that friend just talking with them about why they’re no longer friends with said celebrity and give them private details about personal life. Maybe that gives some insight on why Damien isn’t friends with people like that anymore? it’s speculation like everything else has been but I wanted to say something here because I can’t be the only one that found that very off putting.

This has bothered me very much too.

If I were in a position like this, the last thing I would be doing is enabling people who want to dig through the privacy of a man you know hates that. No matter how much my friendship had degraded, I would not be giving people ammo to use against someone I once cared about and it's been concerning to me this whole time that they're willing to do so.

I'm no expert but it sounds to me like they were hurt that he cut them off so they decided that he didn't need or deserve their confidant status anymore, and that's a damn shame.

i find it incredibly annoying that someone here in the fandom that i personally knew simply can't let go of chel for what they did in the past (it died down a while ago)

they've moved on, so has their partner, and everyone else in their friend circle. so why? can't? you????

plus it's even more ironic that the someone in question also had a history of stalking and being weird overall towards both chel and damien. i felt incredibly guilty to have been part of their server (yes THAT server) so ive steadily stayed away from it as much as possible. i was such a fool for believing all of it, and ive only known smosh for a few months when i first entered the server, so i know better now

Not surprised they're still weird about it. People like that don't stop being that obsessed in less than a year. They need to start by taking accountability for terrifying the shit out of a man and his partner and go from there in my personal opinion. I'm disappointed that they're still stuck on this but not surprised.

This is a great but unfortunate example of what extreme parasocial behavior can look like. People, please take care of yourself and pay attention to your behaviors to keep from evolving into stalker behaviors and obsessive cycles. It can happen to basically anybody if left unaware.

Fully understand certain fans wanting their faves (mainly Damien in this case) to not associate with people who have done x y z. Its so disheartening to know your online fave is associating (allegedly) with someone who has been known for doing shitty things.

However.

He's a god damn adult. We all know he's has heard what Chel is 'doing' and is aware of whats going on. He's not your innocent babygirl precious uwu autist bapy unaware of evil 'icky gross' people. He is allowed to make friends and socialise with people and make his own decisions, regardless of whether fans think its wrong or not.

Regardless of what we know, we may never know the full picture and sometimes that sucks, but like. Move on and put your aggression into something positive such as advocating for food banks and local charities. If you're genuinely this pressed about Chel, start supporting independent artist affected by plagiarism and doing what you can from home/online. Yelling at the online world does so much, but wont do nothing unless you refuse to acknowledge or help others artists going through similar things

Honestly myself I hope he isnt too involve with Chel as some posts/blogs report he is, but at the same time. I kinda don't care?? He's and adult with support networks that are there for them if he needs them, if Chel's behaviour/actions or whaterver has led him to those accessing those avenues. Its none of our fucking business. Its not for us as fans to known. He deserves his privacy, he deserves basic respect like everyone. If that is the case. He is a successful man through smosh, voice acting and streaming independently.

ive already unsubbed from damien's twitch/discord for personal reasons for a long time now, but seeing some usernames i recognize here on tumblr express that his fan community isn't the same anymore as it used to be has left me surprised.

i am aware the " purge " happened within the community while i was away - so many people there got blocked by him and his mods across social media, including most of my old friends whom i no longer interact with. sure, i was disgusted that one of these old friends was most involved in the stalking, but i didnt expect him to block other people who were never directly involved as well. maybe its the association with the stalker that caused this purge, but the damage's already been done.

now the people who miraculously stayed through the purge are now leaving one by one. which... i dont blame them. so much has changed since i left, and with the stalking incident that affected his personal life, i wonder if damien no longer being on discord or socials that much is a sign of him stepping away from fan interactions for good, which i dont blame him for either.

i just hope to God he doesnt stop with the con guestings. if thats the only way he'll ever interact with fans. we're slowly losing the old damien, but hes getting more and more famous and he needs more privacy than ever. geuinely wish him all the best :,(

At the end of the day, I want him to do what's best for himself and his wellbeing, and if that involves pulling back from the fans, then so be it. Your peace comes first.
