Dhamma Dipa
From the unmade bed. This morning without the alarm I was up and had time to stretch whilst Dennis showered. I had spent the previous day with a hangover, cooking, doing applications and generally being domestic. Today we attended Vipassana Dipa in Herefordshire. A very English day with a deep Buddhist philosophy shrouded in non sectarianism. I liked it. The overall question is, will I invest the 10 days.
Dennis said soon after he met me he’d booked his meditation retreat. I remember his intense demeanour when I met him again at the Lord Mayors fireworks. We discussed it a little today.
Apart from our adequate packed lunch we have afternoon tea. I had a half a scone, strawberries and cream with peppermint tea. The teacosies were a nice touch with the strainers.
Down a single car lane in a potholed road our coach arrived and left. Like a breech birth handled by a most excellent midwife. We were left in their capable care, spending a good 30 minutes each way contending with overgrown hedgerows. The first time this spring, obviously verdant regrowth, abundant and blocking our smooth birth onto the awaiting motorway.
