Trust me, when I first got a sight of this place my Jaw was left wide open. I was like Oh my God! Do such places exist in real😮❓ It was really something else, just out of the World. I stood there for a while and kept staring at these mountains until it satisfied my whims. . I can surely say that out of all of my visits in Spiti Valley, this place offered the most exquisite views and believe me, the picture doesn't even show half the worth of the place as compared to actually going there and experiencing it. That deep silence, extreme winds, sky touching Himalayan ranges and Spiti River along with deific sceneries all around you😍. I can literally sit here for hours doing nothing but seeing the sky, mountains,clouds and the Sun showing their magical wonders. . This is almost all the civilization you can see in the village with around 15-20 houses of locals, guest houses and some shops but mostly you'll find green Nature all around. In the top right, you can see #DHANKARGOMPA which is one of the most prestigious and oldest monasteries of Spiti Valley. . . Dhankar(3894m) was capital of Spiti for many years till needs of the modern day shifted the capital to the main town Kaza which is just around 27kms from here. Temperatures here go below negative 20° in winters🥶 . #DhankarGompa (also Dankhar, Drangkhar or Dhangkar Gompa; Brang-mkhar or Grang-mkhar) is a village and also a Gompa, a #BuddhistTemple in the district of #Lahaul and #Spiti in India. It is situated at an elevation of 3,894 metres (12,774 feet) in the #SpitiValley above #DhankarVillage, between the towns of Kaza and Tabo. The complex is built on a 1000-foot (300-metre) high spur overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers - one of the world's most spectacular settings for a gompa. Dhang or dang means cliff, and kar or khar means fort. Hence Dhangkar means fort on a cliff. Beyond the surrounding harsh, lunar landscape, notable sights at Dhankar Gompa include a statue of Vairocana consisting of four figures seated back-to-back, in addition to various crumbling thangkas. There is a small museum in the gompa.
