From the Women of Solo teaser for Solo (Malayalam/Tamil, 2017)
‘’South Indian Cinema needs to experiment more, the heroines are just there for eye candy’’
let me just stop you there
sure, jejamma was just eye candy
yogi wasn’t even that cool omg booooo
trisha’s new film? lol who cares about the fact that the film is women-oriented and that its her 58th film but no lets only focus on how bad it is
nithya in OK kanmani? she wasnt independent at all!!
tammanaah in baahubali? it was bad too because none of us understand the significance that the mastermind ss rajamouli put in during the love sequence lets just focus on how sexist it is and put aside the fact that it was actually because of her that shivudu went to mahishmathi and that she can probably gorge your eyes out
sivagami? don’t get me started on baahubali lets not even go to that film as its just so sexist lets not focus on the fact that she literally took charge and killed a man who tried to offend her
nayan in NRD? nope lets again not focus on the fact that she broke down once because her dad died but actually found the killer, tracked him down and killed him
There are so many more roles, films and scripts that are being written in the south industries which experiment more, and actually give out meaty and independent roles to our kickass heroines. But why does the world only focus on how ‘’sexist” the films are? Don’t try and tell me that Bollywood isn’t sexist. Don’t try and tell me Hollywood isn’t sexist. Here’s the raw truth: the world is sexist. You all may want to actually watch the films of Tollywood, Kollywood and Mollywood before terming them as sexist.
And why does the South not protest to this? Its because everyone in the south industries already know that they’re better off without this negativity. They’d rather focus on making their films better and original, unlike OK Jaanu.
so, in the end.....
why bother?
