The night was young, and Jaehyun found himself atop a branch of a sturdy tree, seated in the most comfortable of manners, a subconscious smile plastered across his thin pair of pallid lips. In the light of the moon’s beams, his skin glowed like a child poured from starlight— smooth, perfect, luminescent. His sharp features seemed far attractive than they already have been, as they were outlined by a thin coat of silver, emitted from the moon’s exquisite glow. With such a posture, memories abundant flourished in his mind, and that was the very reason his leer was of an uncanny vibrance. The vision of archangels taking part in odd yet endearing dance upon the pathways that were the moon’s rays, solidifying under the light footsteps of them who bore the whitest of feathers, and the grandest of wings. It were nights like this when the higher anarchy would allow him to tamper and ridicule with the illusions compacted into the slumbers of the mortals he had so long watched over.
It had always been interesting, watching whilst part-taking in their dreams. Sometimes it’d be vivid projections of their laughable, unreachable ambitions. Most of the time, though, it would be recollections. Memories of good, happy times. But never once did a vibe like that pluck the inquisitive mind Jaehyun has been girded with. He had so long yearned for remnants of madness, colorful reminisces of a person’s horrid past through a nightmare. At times Jaehyun would just observe, but at most he would walk in and let himself be seen by those who seemed at least worthy enough. Jaehyun bases how he would act— a nightmare or the sweetest dream- on the person’s countenance upon meeting eyes with the man. If the response is of utter abrogation and adversity, then Jaehyun would unleash that side of him. That side that even he himself feared would go about beyond the dreams of people. The mere thought of such an occurrence made a shiver run down the man’s spine. He, even in his thoughts, had no plots of showing that side of him to anyone just yet. But then again, it was inevitable. He who dwells within him, and unleashes a wrath that could match up of them who create madness themselves.
Dismissing such a crude thought, Jaehyun stood up, feeling the frosty night’s breeze envelope his pale flesh. He had closed his eyes for a few moments, enjoying the feeling. Due to the short attention span he had been unluckily graced with, though, this didn’t withstand for too long. With a sudden leap forth of the man, he found himself falling. Falling, falling, falling.
No fear was contained in his heart as he fell, as he merely awaited the feeling of a stable structure below his feet. Once he had felt it, though, he had realized the path was far too narrow. With the great sense of footing and balance Jaehyun had, though, he found managing his step atop such a small pathway far easy. But other than the fact that he stood on a window sill once more (déjà vu, honestly. He had found himself atop such small spaces for more than once in the academy already), he was more intrigued by the sight presented to him. A girl, with a face that was definitely alien to his memory, slept with a scarily peaceful face. Jaehyun was as if too sure that even if he had stepped inside the room where she part-took her slumber, still it would be soundless in her presence. What caught his attention the most, though, was the fact that she was all too oddly silent, yet in a mess of sweat. Jaehyun knew something was wrong.
A few moments of deep thought had made Jaehyun unmoved from that very spot he was at. He stayed still, until he finally decided that maybe he would give his powers a go, seeing if it would still be with him even after being rid of his wings. With a hopeful mien, he closed his eyes in concentration. If he was to walk in the girl’s dream, it had to be that she was an arm’s length away. He had to first surpass the obstacle that was the thick glass window that stood between the two entities. Engrossed in thought, he could feel himself get a tad lighter. In a quick moment in time, his physique had moved from outside of the room to inside, the abrupt teleportation of every constituent of his body causing him to nearly stumble forward. Again, his amazing sense of balance has saved him from tripping and causing a ruckus— what could’ve been the reason of the girl who was deep in slumber to wake.
With his steps heedful and quiet, Jaehyun approached the girl whose face was now a mess of what could’ve been sweat and tears. The moon’s rays beamed into the room, being the only source of light that he has. But even with just that, his sharp eyes could determine every little feature of the girl’s face..
"Nightmare, hm?…" Jaehyun uttered almost inaudibly, before once again fluttering his eyes to a close. He was getting in the trance. He could feel how the temperature was suddenly dropping, earning a subtle shiver from Jaehyun. But he was deep in concentration, as he never did snap out of the trance he was in. A sensation of lightness took over, making him feel no heavier than a feather. In no time, he was in the girl’s dream. Jaehyun didn’t know, though, that he was about to be put face to face with a tragedy.
