BIO

alex’s parents agreed to enter him into project echo for the money a little before he was born. they’d always wanted a child and were extremely happy to be having one, but they weren’t doing well financially and knew a child was only going to worsen their finances.

when alex showed no signs of any extraordinary powers, he was considered a failed test subject and his parents swore to never tell alex what they’d agreed to have done to him. as far as they knew, nothing had even come of it and they were just a little richer. it didn’t seem like it would be an issue

they raised him well and were amazing parents. the money helped them a great deal, and alex lead a good, mostly normal childhood

he was bullied horribly in school for his nerdy interests like sci-fi movies, reading, comics, etc., for being considered a know it all, and for being considered ‘strange’. he became quieter because of this, only seeming to come out of his shell and talk about his interests with those he loved and/or deeply trusted for most of his childhood. more recently he’s become a lot less ashamed of the things he loves and is more openly himself.

has always been a big fan of superheroes but still acknowledges that superpowers can be dangerous in the wrong hands. still, he thinks that everyone is capable of good and doing good and he admires those who were once in the liberty league; they saved people and made the world a better place.

went into medicine so that he could also do good and help the world be a better place like those heroes, or like the fictional characters he admires in his favourite media. he had the smarts and the passion, and although he knew it would be a long, tough journey, he knew that the outcome would be more than worth it.

is now a really good doctor. he’s gentle and understanding, and he has the knowledge he needs to do the best job possible. he really cares about his patients and wants what’s best for them.

          born   as   min   hyun - woo,   miles   was   raised   by   two   korean   immigrant   parents   who   fled   to   toronto,   canada   not   long   after   the   mississipi   explosion.   they   had   agreed   to   subject   miles   to   project   echo,   however   had   feared   for   his   safety   after   the   details   of   the   explosion   came   out.   and   with   all   the   chaos   that   ensued   after   1985,   while   min   hyun-woo   does   exist   in   DOSA   records,   cain   industries   never   ended   up   coming   after   them.   after   all,   what   was   the   point   since   project   echo   had   been   shut   down   ?

          and   so,   miles’   father   became   a   math   professor   at   the   university   of   toronto   while   their   mother   took   a   job   as   a   civil   engineer   for   the   city.   with   that   kind   of   background,   it   wasn’t   really   a   surprise   when   miles   grew   up   to   have   a   certain   knack   for   academics.   nonetheless,   their   parents   were   proud   of   their   prodigal   son.   miles   even   ended   up   skipping   a   couple   grades   throughout   elementary   and   ended   up   starting   high   school   at   the   age   of   twelve.

          when   they   graduated,   miles   had   been   determined   to   attend   post-secondary   school   right   away,   despite   only   being   sixteen.   so,   he   attended   the   university   of   toronto   and   finished   with   a   dual   degree   in   mathematics   and   economics,   receiving   dean’s   list   every   year   of   his   studies.   academia   fit   miles   like   a   glove,   complex   subjects   and   concepts   clicking   for   him   almost   right   away.   and   they   thought,   why   stop   there   ?   this   was   when   miles   decided   to   move   to   new   york   to   attend   columbia   law   school.

          after   passing   the   bar   (   naturally   ),   miles   ended   up   working   for   liberty   law,   receiving   an   opportunity   to   do   his   clerkship   there.   though,   miles   was   initially   dismissed   by   many   of   his   superiors   before   things   just   . . .   began   working   in   their   favour.   co - workers   took   him   more   seriously,   no   longer   being   given   coffee   orders   and   instead   real   work,   allowing   miles   to   really   shine.   over   the   years,   miles   quickly   worked   his   way   up   the   ladder   and   it   wasn’t   long   before   he   was   granted   a   promotion   to   junior   partner,   maybe   the   youngest   liberty   law   has   ever   had.

          hyun - woo   became   miles   sometime   in   middle   school,   a   nickname   given   to   him   by   his   peers   as   he   was   often   known   to   be   miles   ahead   of   everyone   else,   whether   that   be   in   academics   or   just   the   general   game   of   wit.   though,   that   definitely   doesn’t   mean   that   miles   was   widely   liked   in   his   adolescent   years.   miles   was   the   sort   of   kid   who   would   often   be   mouthing   off   to   much   larger   children,   correcting   teachers,   and   just   being   overall   obnoxious,   so   you   can   only   imagine   how   he   was   generally   treated   by   other   kids.

          regarding   their   ability,   tychokinesis,   it’s   something   miles   has   been   somewhat   aware   of   since   they   were   around   twelve   or   thirteen.   i   mean,   when   he’d   run   away   from   whatever   bully   he   had   pissed   off   that   day,   how   was   it   possible   that   he’d   always   get   away   scot   free   ?   and   throughout   his   post-secondary   studies,   classmates   would   often   wonder   why   miles   was   so   nonchalant   when   it   came   to   exams.   sure,   they   would   always   study   like   a   hound   dog   on   cocaine,   but   when   exam   day   came,   he’d   often   be   seen   smiling   and   cracking   jokes.   and   at   work,   miles   is   known   to   never   be   nervous   and   to   always   be   prepared.   a   great   reputation   for   a   lawyer,   quite   frankly.  

          anyways,   miles   is   no   idiot,   of   course   he   had   known   about   the   superhumans   from   new   york,   and   with   some   quick   math,   figured   it   only   made   sense.   though   he   had   always   wondered   if   he   was   nothing   but   a   fraud,   if   all   of   his   success   was   due   to   his   . . .   abilities.   but   they   try   not   to   dwell   on   it   too   much,   brushing   the   thoughts   aside   and   forcing   themselves   to   focus   on   the   present.

&   BIOGRAPHY  :

normality  was  an  opportunity  passed  in  evaline’s  childhood;  daughter  of  scotsman  and  suburban  housewife.  the  family  were  in  the  beginnings  of  being  hollowed  out.  a  house  that  was  empty  with  nothing  but  ghosts,  father  seemingly  waiting  for  a  new  mission  while  eva’s  mother  scurried  around  the  house,  their  child  did  everything  in  her  power  to  garner  some  sort  of  spark  in  the  family  home  once  more.  academically  bright  at  the  local  public  school,  captain  of  her  soccer  team,  nothing  truly  brought  joy  until  the  day  eva  had  accidentally  flooded  the  living  room  with  smoke  from  her  father’s  cigarette.

the  afternoon  was  brushed  away  by  the  likes  of  cain  industries’  funds.  autonomy  already  signed  and  sold  to  the  military,  the  last  evaline  ever  saw  of  her  parents  was  their  giant  grins  waving  their  only  child  goodbye;  father  giving  blossoming  in  his  militarily  roots,  saluting  her  off.  this  is  for  your  country,  darling.  the  taste  was  bittersweet,  truth  realising  how  full  the  house  was  as  she  disappeared  over  the  horizon.  

eva  was  immediately  enlisted  into  learning  different  martial  arts  and  combat  tactics.  learn  to  survive  on  your  own  two  feet  as  the  body  slips  between  the  atoms  of  smoke,  reappear  quick  enough  to  knock  the  enemy  out.  the  military  found  eva’s  ability  useful  in  covert  operations,  the  early  celebrations  of  eva’s  early  twenties  were  spent  alone  in  dark  rooms  and  in  a  new  country  each  time;  but  a  weapon  doesn’t  celebrate  birthdays. 

a  late  boomer  throughout  life,  eva  was  selected  and  introduced  as  a  new  member  of  the  liberty  league.  with  mixtures  of  navy  blues  and  blacks,  leather  jacket  dawned  and  bleached  blonde  hair  tied  up  ⸻  myste  was  born,  death  brought  upon  evaline  logyn.  the  ghost  with  the  most,  quick  witted  and  elusive.  like  smoke,  eva  slipped  and  disappeared  into  myste  if  it  meant  pleasing  those  at  cain  industries.  a  young  person,  desperate  to  feel  the  need  of  meaning,  to  be  able  to  give  the  same  way  she  did  as  a child.

[ tw: hospitals, surgery, bullet wounds ] their  career  was  shot  down  quicker  than  intended.  a  bullet  piercing  eva’s  lower  chest  just  before  she  could  teleport  away.  the  wound  left  the  superhero  needing  a  blood  transfusion,  months  of  intensive  therapy  and  nights  ruined  by  nightmares,  too  fearful  to  fall  asleep.  they  begged  to  be  let  back  on  the  team,  but  with  such  a  damning  injury,  her  contract  with  the  liberty  league  was  terminated  officially  by  1982.

left  to  her  own  devices,  eva  headed  towards  university  instead  to  become  a  lawyer.  if  she  couldn’t  help  as  a  superhero,  she’d  help  in  the  courtroom  instead.  years  were  spent  feverishly  studying  (  a  justifiable  reason  to  stay  up  another  night  )  for  the  bar  exam.  eva  quietly  moved  back  to  california  for  a  short  period  to  take  the  exam,  earn  her  degree  and  even  spend  a  good  year  learning  another  language  where  they  could.  anything  to  keep  herself  busy.  

once  she  returned  to  new  york,  eva  immediately  began  their  career  as  a  lawyer.  changing  their  name  to  evaline  carter  and  allowing  her  natural  red  hair  to  return,  they  took  on  any  and  every  case  possible.  through  old  liberty  connections,  eva  made  their  way  as  a  senior  partner.  it  was  supposed  to  be  a  means  to  the  end,  fulfil  the  hero  complex  they  trained  into  her  at  such  a  young  age.  but  with  the  increase  of  crime  (  and  witnessing  some  true  horrors  in  the  courtroom  )  they  couldn’t  help  themselves  but  enter  the  vigilante  scene.  hiding  under  a  blonde  wig  and  white  coat,  the  scent  of  sweet  smoke  following  from  their  never  ending  pack  of  cigarettes. 

&   TYPHOKINESIS  :

the  user  can  create,  shape  and  manipulate  smoke,  collection  of  airborn  solid  and  liquid  particulates,  and  gases  emitted  when  a  material  undergoes  combustion  of  pyrolysis,  together  with  the  quantity  of  air  that  is  entrained  or  otherwise  mixed  into  the  mass.  it  is  commonly  an  unwanted  by-product  of  fires,  with  smoke  inhalation  being  the  primary  cause  of  death  in  victims  of  indoor  fires.

(  1  )   SMOKE  TELEPORTATION  ⸻  similar  to  how  five  hargreeves  teleports,  eva  can  use  smoke  as  a  means  of  transport  and  disappear  for  a  short  period  of  time  to  travel  from  point  a  to  point  b.  there’s  often  a  sweet,  smoky  smell  and  vapour  that  follows,  revealing  their  figure.  

(  2  )   SMOKE  ATTACKS  ⸻  eva  can  create  small  blasts  of  smoke  as  a  means  of  attack.  this  is  an  tiring  ability  if  there’s  not  a  constant  stream  of  smoke.  however,  in  her  vigilante  years  and  the  creation  of  vapes  and  cheap  cigarettes  (  plus,  in  the  late  seventies,  awkwardly  received  a  lifetime  supply  of  malboro’s  for  a  sponsorship,  she  had  declined  but  still  kept  the  supply  )  she  can  supply  her  own  stream  to  create  minor  attacks.  

(  3  )   DEOXYGENATION  ⸻  an  ability  that  has  only  ever  been  used  twice  in  their  life  due  to  how  demanding  it  can  be.  through  severe  concentration,  eva  can  absorb  the  oxygen  in  the  room,  ultimately  suffocating  the  enemy.  however,  such  a  strain  can  leave  eva  dealing  with  heavy  bleeding  from  the  nose  and  severe  nausea,  fainting  and  theoretical  long  term  damages.    

&   HEADCANONS  :

   •   it  was  marketing’s  idea  to  make  myste  a  bottle  blonde  and  it  was  tedious  to  upkeep,  however  it  was  the  most  consistent  thing  about  her  costume  over  the  decade.  very  much  inspired  by  otto  schmidt’s  design  of  black  canary  !  myste  was  marketed  as  the  elusively  opinionated;  designed  to  lure  and  attach  before  knocking  you  out  like  smoke.  in  recent  vigilante  years,  eva  wears  a  curt  white  wig  and  matching  leather  coat  with  black  underclothes.  very  much  like  lorraine  broughton  in  atomic  blonde  with  a  cigarette  constantly  in  her  fingers.  

  •   isn’t  quite  married,  isn’t  quite  divorced.  eva  met  their  partner  and  while  certainly  whirl wined  and  shorter  than  intended,  there’s  definitely  something  there  and  whatever  it  is,  eva  will  always  find  themselves  to  back  their  partner  up  (  wc  !!  it’s  giving  ollie  and  dinah,  or  even  morpheus  and  calliope  < / 3 )

 •   always  prefer  sweeter  things;  asking  for  more  cherries  in  her  manhattan  drinks,  sugar  in  coffee  and  tea.  being  so  intertwined  to  smoke  has  dulled  eva’s  tastebuds  over  the  years,  still  able  to  taste  if  the  flavours  are  super  strong.  

•   has  made  an  attempt  to  burn  her  original  costume,  but  most  of  it  remains  in  a  deep,  hidden  part  of  her  closet  so  she  doesn’t  have  to  look  at  it  again.

*      & .    〔    aisha dee,   cisfemale,   she/her    〕    daisy reynolds   is   a   thirty-one    year   old   superhuman   known   to   be   compassionate   and   determined,   yet   stubborn   and   blunt   at   the   same   time.   rumor   has   it   they’re   a   vigilante (nemesis member)   who   has   sleep inducement/dream manipulation   abilities    —    you’d   never   guess   it   when   you   see   them   working   at   the new york times as   a   journalist.   apparently   they’re   always   listening   to   mad woman   by   taylor swift,   which   makes   sense   since   they   kind   of   also   remind   me   of   always having a book in your hand, a need to understand the truth, and light shining through a window at sunset.

name: daisy reynolds alias: lucid age: 31 gender & pronouns: cisfemale, she/her sexuality: bisexual occupation: journalist at the new york times  abilities: sleep inducement and dream manipulation. is able to put people to sleep with just one touch, and is then able to control the dreams or nightmares of the person she’s put to sleep if she chooses. she can put multiple people to sleep at once but she can only control the dreams of one person at a time. when she does this, it’s like a lucid dream for her; she is inside the dream and able to control it at will. in the waking world, she is left vulnerable in the same position, and her eyes turn white. she uses this power to gain information when needed. people under her power wake naturally later on.

daisy came as a huge surprise to her parents. early in the pregnancy, her parents had decided to get an abortion. neither of them had ever wanted a child, nor could they afford one. their minds changed completely when project echo approached them about involving their unborn child. they’d be rewarded greatly, and the money outweighed the consequences of having a child in their eyes. 

daisy’s powers proved to be troublesome as a baby and a child; she had no understanding or control of what she could do.

her parents had been unprepared for a normal baby, nevermind a superhuman baby, and the pressure proved to be too much. they treated her terribly, and when she was old enough to attend school, she was outcast and seen as a freak. daisy felt that she had no where to turn. 

while still young, daisy bonded with another superhuman and they became fast friends. soon enough, her friend introduced her to her family, and daisy came to see them as her own. 

eventually, she was spending more time with her friend’s family than she was her own, finally feeling like she had people who loved and accepted her. 

despite vigilantism being outlawed, daisy and her friend began to train together. not only did they help each other with their powers, they went to self-defence classes together to learn to fight.

the two were joint at the hip and did everything together, including joining nemesis, both feeling it was the right thing to do. after all, they’d seen and heard all about the liberty league and the good they’d done for people, and they hoped they could one day do the same without the big mistakes.

BIO

andy was raised by his parents, elias katz and liliana katz (nee campbell). they were high school sweethearts who were practically inseparable, despite their parents’ disapproval, until they graduated, when their relationship began to break down. 

elias was in and out of liliana’s life after this, running away from his problems only to return when he missed her. 

elias and liliana had their first child, evelyn (who was entered into project echo), as an attempt to fix their relationship. it worked for a short while, but they soon returned to their unhealthy relationship. only this time, elias was abandoning his child, too, leaving liliana to take care of their superpowered child alone. 

andy was born five years later (a final attempt to make their relationship work), and both children were treated horribly by their parents. elias was still in and out, absent more than he was present, and liliana so focused on her own career that neither of the children received the care they needed. both felt like the least favourite child - andy feeling overshadowed by evie, and evie feeling under pressure to not only take care of her younger sibling, but also dealing with her powers and her parents’ rejection. 

despite this, the two were incredibly close. they were all each other had, after all, and they were a team. 

as evie grew into her powers, she began illegal vigilantism, and eventually went missing while patrolling.

the family were devastated. elias left for good, leaving lily and andy alone to mourn. 

andy was practically a different person after that. they’d once had straight a’s but were now barely showing up for class. when they did, they were only there to cause trouble and play the class clown. they quickly gained a bad reputation with their teachers, who eventually gave up with their shenanigans. they were in detention more than they were out of it.

they were just as much trouble outside of school, searching for the rush of adrenaline in any way they could get it. from slipping a candy bar into his pocket in the store, to breaking into a public swimming pool in the middle of the night. and usually, only narrowly not getting caught increased the thrill.

their first love came when they were 15 years old in the form of a boy they sat next to in class. much like his parents’s relationship, they fell hard and fast, and were soon attached at the hip. it was three years before they fell apart too. one serious argument was all it took for andy to break things off, too afraid of becoming his parents to risk staying in the relationship. 

when he finished school, he travelled the country alone. it was for the adventure, he told everyone. he wasn’t running, he was exploring. he wasn’t hiding. he wasn’t looking for escape. it was for fun, he said, nothing more than that. it was lonely, though, on the road by himself.

he eventually decided to settle down again. start a band, make some new friends, get a job (or three, or ten, or... he wasn’t very good at staying in one place), and travel when he had the option, maybe it was finally time. so he settled in new york, trying to put his past behind him and live out a normal life.

short back story

a new york native through and through, anya and her siblings were raised in a small brooklyn apartment. 

anya never knew her father, except for the yearly birthday cards, and was raised by her mother, rita armors. due to the fact that she was supporting four children, rita usually juggled two or three jobs at a time. as a result, she wasn’t always home to supervise the kids. 

anya’s older siblings held down the fort while their mother was gone. because the apartment was an adult free zone, they would often throw parties and have friends over. anya was exposed to drugs and alcohol at a young age. this sparked a dependency on them, which stands to this day. 

by the time she reached high school, anya was always getting into trouble. school was never her strong suit to begin with; the academic environment made her feel insecure about her intelligence. she ended up dropping out her junior year and getting her GED.

her older sister, erin, worked at a training gym and offered anya a job. still trying to figure life out, she takes the gig and starts learning how to fight.

anya’s abilities are not the most threatening and because of that she never found them useful. they were just something to hide from the world, something that kids had made fun of her for in school, something that girls laughed at. it wasn’t until she became more confident in her combat abilities that she really felt like she could do something with them. 

though she loved the power the gym had instilled in her, anya ultimately ended up quitting to try and pursue vigilante work. she picked up a job as a bartender at moxie’s because of the flexible schedule. vigilante work doesn’t pay the bills, after all.
