it wouldn’t take more than a glance to notice that gwen hadn’t gotten much sleep . try as she had to conceal the heavy bags beneath her eyes , nothing could be done about the utter tiredness in hazel spheres . it was the kind of exhaustion that came without a cure . she hadn’t had her typical tenacity in class that day , perturbed too heavily by the recipe of materials that felt burned into the backs of her lids . ignition coil . high voltage diode . epoxy resin . spark gap . what any of it meant , gwen had her theories / yet still , none of them made a lick of sense in the long run . it felt as if these ingredients belonged together somehow : parts of some contraption she couldn’t place . she had begun to obsess over them , needing to make sense of it . high voltage diodes were used in televisions , microwaves , copy machines , ozone generators . . . SHE NEEDED TO GIVE HERSELF A BREAK ! lord , she needed a break - & not to mention a chance to study . to be completely fair to herself , gwen had marched into the library with the intent of finishing the day’s homework . yet . . . her corner table was piled high with textbooks & engineering works , two open in front of her as she sought anything that would require all of the parts that had come to possess nearly every thought . woman mumbled softly to herself as words were scribbled into her notebook with a ferocious sort of tenacity .

so engrossed in her work , it took gwen a whole minute to realize someone had approached , startling a little once she realized . glancing up at the person in question , cheeks flushed the color of ripened cherries . brief gesture was made to the other side of the table , which was also mostly preoccupied by evidence of her studies . ❝ oh , did you need this seat ? ❞
