IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR DIABETICS!!
Did you know Walmart sell insulin “over the counter” (though technically it’s behind the counter since you do have to get it from the pharmacist) for just 25 whole dollars a vial!??! And you don’t even need a prescription or proof that you have used their pharmacy previously!!
Yeah I didn’t either, till I stumbled onto someone posting about it on Facebook and did a little research into.
My reason for doing so? My grandmother is insulin dependent And her last FOUR VIALS was over 92 bloody dollars!! Can you believe that utter bull??
Now of course I doubted even with my research, so in order to test this theory my grandmother actually went and checked and it turned out to be true!
Just for reference there is only one brand available and you are limited to either 4 vials or 4 boxes per transaction.
Here’s a little blurb I found:
"ReliOn is the only private brand insulin on the market, retailing at $24.88 per vial, and $42.88 per box for the 70/30 pens," Marilee McInnis, a Walmart spokesperson, said.
The drug is technically considered, 'behind the counter,' since you can't pick it off a shelf, but have to get it through the pharmacy.
"It is the only insulin available over the counter, but it is kept behind the pharmacy counter," McIniss said. "There is a quantity limit of 4 vials or 4 boxes per transaction. We sell ReliOn insulin in all states, in all stores, that have a Pharmacy."
Just so everyone knows I make no money off of this I just wanted to let as many people as possible know cause this has actually saved my grandmother A LOT of money and she doesn’t feel like she needs to save her insulin till she desperately needs it anymore.
