FINISHED: And it Teals So Good!

The yarn chicken game worked out well, and blocking was a success, and I officially LOOOOOVE this blanket.

I will absolutely be planning a way to fund creating a full size blanket for myself in the future. Modern Cotton has really proved itself something outstanding, and remains at the very top of my All-Time Favorite Yarn list.

Diagonal Blanket: Blocking Time!

This is an easy block, but I used a tiered pin placement to keep the edges from puckering too much without sacrificing tension.

Some day I’ll buy those fancy blocking wires maybe, and then I won’t have this issue.

Crochet: Decreasing a Box Stitch

I’m having a ton of fun with this stitch. It’s easy, awesome, and I really enjoy the diagonal approach to working up a blanket. So much fun.

I had an opportunity to do a play-by-play photo guide to the decrease, so I took it. (from top left to bottom right)

The first decrease row instructions looks something like this:

Turn, sl st in first 2 sts, *(sl st, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 sp of previous row; rep from * across. (Decreases by 1 box ea row)

So what that basically means is that once you get to the end, you join the corners, turn and single crochet up the top of the box you just made. At that point, it lines up with the edge, you chain 3, start your stitching for that new box going backwards, and you are officially decreasing.

Casting ON! Teals So Good

On our Knitting Hour Guild Yarn Crawl back in June, I purchased some amaaaaazing Berroco Modern Cotton. We were in The VIllage Yarn & Fiber Shoppe, and I saw a sample of a baby blanket that used it doubled up. The weight of the yarn itself was so captivating. I HAD to have it.

I spent a long time trying to find the right pattern to use it with, and finally settled on the Diagonal Rainbow Blanket using a crochet box stitch.

It’s working up fast, and I’m really enjoying this yarn. HOWEVER, it does split like a mo-fo. In retrospect, double knitting it might help with that.

Still in love with it. Easily in my top 10 favorite yarns of all time.

Teals So Good: WIP Pic

Halfway through and DAMN look at those boxes! Really having a great time with this, and only slightly concerned about running out of yarn in the end based on how fast the balls are shrinking.
