How when and why did I join the fandom?
When I was like 7 I remember vaguely watching the DiC dub on TV at my grandma's house. It was the Black Saints episodes and I remember thinking it was really cool, but as time went on, I mostly forgot about it. Every so often I'd remember little bits from it, but since the show never took off here in the States, no one I talked to ever knew what show I meant aside from my twin who saw it with me.
One day in high school, my twin sent me a message saying "I found her! I was googling Greek mythology for an art project and I found that purple haired girl! She's Athena and she's from Saint Seiya"
I googled it and had memories flood through me. Puck and I decided to look into watching it, but at the time the only thing we could find to stream was Soul of Gold and the Hades Chapter. Not wanting to start at the end, we figured Soul of Gold was a safe bet and binged it in a night.
Being the more tech savvy one, Puck found the original Japanese with English subs of the whole series and over the next few months we watched it all. By the time we were done watching, all my siblings, and my mom were into it.
We all loved mythology and it wound up being a great way to bond. Shortly after I graduated high school, we all finished our first Saint Seiya cosplays
Since then, interacting with people online, and dragging my friends into the fandom has only made my love for it grow.
It's definitely a series I will always come back to, for the jokes, memes, beautiful art, killer soundtrack, and gorgeous armor designs.
