"Real riot grrrl" only consists of the Olympia Pacific Northwest scene and the late 90's Riot grrrl scene. What is known by "Modern Riot grrrl" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real riot grrrl influence. When people try to argue that bands like Destroy Boys are not real riot grrrl while saying that VIAL is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake riot grrrl as Destroy Boys (plus the pretentiousness). Real riot grrrl sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake riot grrrl is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL riot grrrl are Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Emily's Sassy Lime (the only real riot grrrl band from the Cali scene) and Sleater-Kinney. Some examples of FAKE RIOT GRRRL are Cat Crash, Bad Static and t@b grrrl RIOT GRRRL BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE
