The West Bengal government has announced a series of new public safety initiatives, including the launch of the Durga Suraksha Squad, dedicated Women's Help Desks, and Cyber Crime Help Desks across the state. Beginning on Mahalaya, the Dial-112 emergency service will become operational, with the goal of ensuring police reach any incident within five minutes. The government says these measures are aimed at improving law enforcement, enhancing women's safety, and providing faster emergency response through a modernized policing system.
