India Forms High-Level Committee to Study Demographic Changes and Illegal Immigration
The Ministry of Home Affairs has constituted a High-Level Committee to conduct a scientific study of demographic changes across India since the 2011 Census. The panel will examine issues such as illegal immigration, unusual settlement patterns, and population shifts, with a special focus on border states, metropolitan cities, and industrial regions. The committee has been asked to submit its report within a year, including recommendations on immigration management, border security, legal reforms, and coordination between the Centre and states.
