As soon as she saw Cynthia come in, Phoebe popped a blueberry scone into the microwave and got to work on a mocha latte with soymilk--not regular--complete with a cheerful pattern of foam on top. Cynthia had started coming by to the coffeeshop nearly three months ago (not that Phoebe was counting) and had never changed her order--not even when Phoebe recommended the best of their themed menus (this season's being pumpkin-themed, Phoebe's favourite)--and Phoebe liked to think that she knew something about Cynthia even though they'd never spoken beyond customary 'Have a nice day!'s and 'Thank you, you too's, because at the very least, she knew that Cynthia was consistent.
But today, Cynthia looked unusually stressed, and against her better judgement, Phoebe scribbled her phone number onto the holder of Cynthia's coffee cup with the explanation that sorry-if-this-is-weird-but-if-you-need-someone-to-talk-to-I'm-available; she was shocked when Cynthia circled back to drop off a napkin with numbers before leaving the shop.
The first time Phoebe goes to Sinnoh to visit her girlfriend during the winter season, Steven ends up worrying. A lot.
He had to pretty much wrestle Phoebe into buying winter gear (he lost the battle when it came to shoes that provided more warmth than ballet flats, but at least she ended up agreeing to buy a puffy jacket in exchange), after all, and Sinnoh's winters are freezing, especially to a Hoenn native.
He trusts that Cynthia's going to take good care of Phoebe, of course, but he still calls the duo after Phoebe's all settled in to make sure that she's okay in terms of the weather.
Cynthia laughs and tells him to stop worrying so much.
Cynthia going to pick up Phoebe at the airport and getting tackled from behind because Phoebe always decides to run up and literally launch herself at Cynthia.
Cynthia decides that it's a good thing Phoebe's tiny, because otherwise she'd probably end up falling over.
Phoebe and her Ghost-type Pokemon like pulling minor pranks on Cynthia.
Except they always end up getting really frustrated, because Arceus-dangit they just want to get Cynthia once. Just once. That's all they're asking for.
Cynthia comes home one day extremely tired and while she should probably tie up her hair at night she's exhausted and really doesn't want to, so Phoebe volunteers to do it.
The problem is, Phoebe's never had hair that went down farther than her chin, so she has absolutely no idea how to do hair.
After about an hour, Cynthia decides that she'll just deal with her hair being particularly messy in the morning.
Really, she just wants to prevent Phoebe from making an even bigger knot out of her hair.
i got dianashipping to work (kinda??) with the lost phone scenario.
cynthia ends up getting a call from mrs. stone via phoebe's phone, and mrs. stone is actually really rad in my headcanons and is mom for steven and his friends (especially phoebe) and she invites cynthia to come over and cynthia agrees, not knowing exactly who she agreed to see.
and so she gets there to try and return the phone and meets steven instead, and both of them are very confused but steven agrees to return the phone to phoebe.
except when phoebe finds out she gets really embarrassed in part because she has no idea how to return cynthia's phone but she eventually figures it out and cynthia and phoebe eventually start dating and eventually phoebe explains her relationship with the stones and finally the circumstances of how they started talking make sense.
