SA Trip: 1-23-2017

Puerto Varas, Chile

Jeremy awoke hungover and I slept in because I could. I went back to hand washing my clothes when I noticed my debit card was missing. This is awful because it limits how and when I can purchased food and shelter for the rest of the trip. I think I left my card at the super market on day 6 (1-16) before I went to Cochamo Valley. I start to panic a little because I start worrying if I can make it to El Chalten, Argentina which is a must do while I am in South America. I sat down with J-Dawg and figured out a game plan. I had some USD still so I decided to exchange that and only use my credit card in big towns. Credit is rarely taken down here in small towns. This is why I had to exchange all my USD. Had no choice. 

 I ended up stress planning for the Carretera Austral  most of the day and finally calmed myself down. Then I meandered down to the supermarket where I had lost my debit card and bought some food for the long stretch of highway. I am so nervous about getting on the Carretera Austral aka Route 7. Once you ferry across the bay you will no longer have cell service, hostels, restaurants, and WiFi. However I have to do this even if I want some sort of a shot to get to El Chalten. One month left!!
