I figured out what was shitting me abt the narrators I tried for the tell tale heart. All of them started off the story as if it was ~a horror~ when the narrator at the start of tell tale is like "so u think me mad? Could a mad man do THIS?" -plots to kill a man bc he doesn't like the look of his eyes-

I think it's a much more satisfying read if u start out in a reasonable, genial tone and then lean into the intensity when it comes

But I guess that's nothing new. We all create stories to protect ourselves.
