Arrancar/Hollow HC: I’ll Break You, Just Like ME

Early(ish?) on in the Hueco Mundo arc, Grimmjow has a rather interesting conversation with Orihime, regarding the wounds that Ulquiorra leaves within Ichigo. That there is a disgusting amount of reiatsu inside of it. Now, this is not all over Ichigo’s body, as he got hit in quite a few places through time (Even from the fight with Grimmjow, there was never any mention of there being any tough places). But SPECIFICALLY in that one wound, she has trouble healing because of so much reiatsu being put in there. 

This is explained, by Grimmjow, that whenever Ulquiorra takes a particular interest in an enemy, he wounds them in the same place as his hollow hole. Now this seems like just some random banter, and probably not all that important beyond symbolism. However, this does somewhat slip back to an idea in VERY early bleach.

Namely Orihime’s brother does not become a hollow ordinarily, but is MADE into a hollow by others. It is stated that rather than turning a human into a meal (As their instinct should dictate) they are capable of turning particular humans into hollows. 

In another Vein, Orihime’s interactions with Loly are MOSTLY violent, but also...interestingly, very peculiar.

Loly hits Orihime almost EXCLUSIVELY in her left Eye. The same eye that she herself is missing. And later on, when Loly becomes a lot less beat-y and a lot more Take-your-clothes-off-y, when threatened by Ichigo’s attention, her immediate reaction and threat, weirdly, is to take Orihime’s Eye out. This is honestly a bit of a stupid threat, any villain, dumb or genius, knows that when you have a hostage, you threaten to kill them, and generally go for the neck. However, Loly immediately goes to threatening Orihime with a loss of her eye.

This seems to imply that, like Ulquiorra with Ichigo, Loly has taken a particular interest in Orihime, and wants to make them just like her. It is entirely possible that this is a very deep instinct in hollows, to take a strong soul and turn it into a hollow, namely: to make it like them. From smaller and weak hollows turning humans into their kind, to Loly and Ulquiorra’s fixation, one has to wonder what exactly the effect of this sort of relation might spawn. But we DO have a clue. As the second time around, Orihime is unable to heal from the attack, and Ichigo recovers on his own from the assault (Which does make one wonder if he would have gotten back up from the first strike as well) and does so in a tremendous fashion, becoming instantly 10x more hollow-like. This change is SO drastic that Rukia later comments, saying that his mask had been changing steadily for a long time but that this was the most considerable change that had ever happened. And one cannot help but wonder if this is a sort of subliminal desire. 

ANOTHER possibility, is that this is a sort of kinship ritual for fullbringers. While Orihime’s abilities are made from the Hogyoku rather than a hollow attack like normal fullbringers, the abilities of her and chad are undeniably still hollow-like, (Chad mentions that his power feels very much like a hollow, and later in the after-book a conversation between Urahara and Hisagi reveals that Urahara has deduced that either by hollow attack or Hogyoku, while the means in which the power is awakaned is different, the origin and the end result are the same.) 

AS such, it may be that Hollows are instinctively drawn to the power of Fullbringers, and that they subconsciously are driven to awaken the hollow they sense inside of others.
