“But… I’m not opposed to getting your cat.”
He is joking, of course, as he assumes she is, since they’re simply playing a video game. But he does go out of his way to protect her character on screen, taking the brunt of the damage from their enemies. He’s good at this game, and he doesn’t mind letting her rely on him to stay alive. They reach the end of that particular area, and he turns to her with a grin.
“You get to keep your cat.”
