You say you like jaydick, and I get that Dick is your favorite character, but most of the time it feels like you only use Jason as some kind of boyfriend prop for Dick.
Like, other than being a cock for Dick to sit on, Jason isn’t anything else in your art. Just an accessory, like he doesn’t even have a life (not to mention a personality) outside of Dick. Idk that’s honestly the vibe your art gives me. It feels like Dick is the only character you care about developing, while Jason is just an object there to decorate his narrative.
I know you’re probably going to take this as hate, but I genuinely don’t understand why you draw jaydick when it’s obvious you don’t actually like Jason beyond using him as an accessory for Dick.
And it’s not just your Jason drawings that feel OOC, Dick feels OOC too, because you make him seem like some helpless whore who constantly needs protection.
Let me tell you a secret and also an advice anon, I feel the same with some people draw or write dickjay.
BUT I don’t send them anonymous ask, because I know it can happen in fandom, you have a fav and the other one is uh, there.
For me it better to vague complain about it in socials (if you feel private conversations aren’t enough), than sending them messages hidden as anon with criticism, you know, fandom etiquette :-)
Now about the criticism, yup I explore more Dick’s character, but I also think you have may look at my art too superficially, I have drawn them for two years: nsfw, sfw, comics, animations and if you feel that in my 500+ artworks there is nothing focused on Jason, then, maybe, you’re looking for a particular Jason Todd that I don’t portray, but that you’re a fan of.
I played a lot with his vulnerabilities, also for special projects like zines.
Plus I also thinks Dick is a really important character in Jason’s life, so doing art about how Jason feel about Dick is also exploring his character.
But not every artworks need to be thoughtful or have a deep meaning, sometimes it’s just me and practising art you know?
Now, for me Dick’s character is extreeeemely competent, hypercompetent, and I hate when in comics he’s portrayed as an himbo.
But it’s also canon that this extremely competent man often finds himself in situations where he’s rescued, bridal carried, hugged, taken care of, (despite him, stubborn, still risks his life to the max).
You can find even a thread of comics panels where Dick and some villains explore bond4g3 kinks (let’s describe it like that lol).
So yes, I like to focus a lot on those situations when I make art, but let’s be honest, isn’t the tag - #whump or #hurt + (name of the character you like )- super common between fans?
Sometimes I’m not skilled enough to put in a singular artwork how fucking complex Dick character is. Sometimes I just prefer to show a particular aspect of the relationship, do you wanna police my free art and free time?
This isn’t the first time that I heard someone receiving hate (in this case me and in this case criticism) about Jason’s portray in fan - creations , you and some others really want a particular image of him and you’re gonna hate FAN works that don’t focus or portray that.
I’ve seen friends stopping creating about him due to this, but prob you would be happy about it…
