yuta loves his friends so much and quite literally would do anything for them.  until panda,  maki and toge  (after rika)  he was so alone.  so so so alone.  where once he had been close with his own family,  he no longer could interact with them in fear of them being hurt.  his only net of support felt like it vanished over night.  and he did not have friends at school.  while partly to blame himself for isolating,  he also had never really had friends aside rika.  he was too shy to put himself out there,  and afterwards was too frightened of what could happen to someone if he tried.  

but then gojo came into his life and while he was obviously skeptical at the time,  he brought him to the place that eventually feels like home.  and his friends...  he cares about them so intrinsically and deeply bc despite everything they accepted him once they got to know him.  they showed him what it meant to belong.  and he feels forever indebted to them for doing so.  saying that tho ofc he knows he Isnt but...  he just wants to repay them tenfold.  bc of them he found a purpose and for the first time in a long time felt as if he deserved to live and not just live but thrive.
