Japanese people are so nice
So, backstory to this. Over the weekend, my apartment was home to not one, but two giant ass mosquitoes! I thought it was only one, but once I managed to kill that one, another one was discovered. It explains why I have so so so so so so many bites. And most of them are on my feet.. Really now? But I do have two on my right arm, one of which is right where my arm rests when I’m typing and writing, and so this post is irritating it! It’s making it look like a growth has formed.
Well, this morning, the second one on my arm was discovered, around the middle of my forearm. It started itching and I did the X method, because I didn’t have anything else to use for it. So I’m sitting at the community computer, making up flashcards for my first year’s lesson. By now, this middle forearm bug bite has grown to the circumference of a penny. And the skin around it is getting increasingly red and migrating around my arm.
I should mention at this point, I have sensitive skin and it does not, DOES NOT, like bug bites of any kind. I’m actually allergic to flea bites.
So, I’m sitting there, I’m actually ignoring it since I’m focused on my work, when one of the admin ladies beside me, pulls out this tube of cream. She starts trying to say something to effect that its for itching. Luckily one of the 3rd year JTE’s are in the room, right behind us, and he can completely translate.
Now, remember when I said I had sensitive skin? Well I’m actually allergic to a lot of tropical ointments. I’m allergic to two different components in Neosporin. Probably why the stuff never worked on me and just made it worse! So the second she pulls this out, I’m like... Shit...
When I find out its to help reduce itching, a cream I can use, I’m like sure. My skin couldn’t have gotten any worse by this point. So I take some, put it on both my bites and call it good.
Not only did this keep my arm from itching, all day, it made the redness go down to Zero. The bump was still red, but the entire skin around it was back to normal. It’s no longer that way anymore, since the stuff has worn off throughout the day, but it was so nice to not having that desire to itch.
I think I’m gonna ask the lady tomorrow what it’s called and have her write it down for me. I need that stuff in my life!
Also, because of my money situation, I’m reduced to eating off 300 yen ($3) a day; this is not including Lunch from school, that was factored into the budget. But, I’m not actually upset. I go to the store every day after 8:15, once they’ve put all the bento items on sale. I actually get a really delicious meal, and I’m trying things I’ve never had before.
It has gets me out of the house. But you know, I did three hours of clubs today, went for a 25 minute job, and those don’t count for getting out of the house!
