Winter

Standing atop the mountain, gazing down – I see the squaw lodge below.  Imagine Dienna walking around, in her big, puffy green and black snowboard jacket – sipping on warm hot chocolate, cupped between her delicate hands. 

I pull my black gloves from my mouth, exhale one last time, letting the steam rise into the Tahoe sky.  My fingertips still feel a little numb, but inside something’s coming alive.  What once was broken, has clicked back into place.  I see her, sitting at a table by herself, leg crossed, boots hanging in the air, face staring out into the room, waiting to meet mine.

With a heave, I push off the ground to hop on my two legs, my board strapped firmly beneath me.  Slick and smooth, frozen wax gliding across the snow.  Down, down I go. 

Faster, faster, boom – slip and slide.  Turn and jive.   Heel, toe, heel, toe.  Carving up this bad boy like a turkey on thanksgiving.  S….

I hear the mountain blow by my ears, gortex flapping behind my back, orange goggles, giving life its tangy hue.  The Tahoe pines smell delicious and life-affirming, filling me with nature’s urgent calm.

Up above, I see Josie looking at me from the ski lift, her face in amazement, as a I give her a thumbs up and shoot down and up over a huge competition jump.  30 feet of air.  Landing it with a soft thud, whoosh.

Today, the mountain is mine.  Tonight, Dienna.

shops for groceries: probably both of them together they’d be that couple who liked to go shopping together just because awh look we’re doing adult things together that’s hella cute

kills the spiders: jake would try and put them outside without india noticing oops

comes home drunk at 3am: ahA probably jake though i’m not really seeing either of them ass huge drinkers 

makes breakfast: india would have too tbh bc jake would burn the house down

remembers to feed the fish: india. jake’s a fucking idiot???

decorates the apartment: india. again, jake’s a fucking idiot.

initiates duets: both probably, but more than likely india.

falls asleep first: jake he’s lazy as shit

shops for groceries: vienna probably, she’s a very picky eater and doesn’t trust daulton enough to pick up shit she likes

kills the spiders: whoever wants to get up off the couch to do it

comes home drunk at 3am: v definitely she’s notorious for bar hopping

makes breakfast: vienna would make breakfast, because again, she’s picky and doesn’t trust daulton to make shit she likes

remembers to feed the fish: daulton, vienna wasn’t even aware they had one

decorates the apartment: vienna probably even though she’d do a shit job with it

initiates duets: daulton, vienna doesn’t sing 

falls asleep first: it’s probably just a whoever is more tired thing tbh
