Good for you - not for not drinking, but for not doing something that you don't want to do despite expectations from people close to you and our culture in general.

What people don't get about drinking, pot, etc is that doing it doesn't make you anything (cool, fun, whatever) and not doing it doesn't make you anything (lame, immature, a prude). You do it or you don't and no one should be judged for either.

I’m going to go a bit behind the cut about my reasons, but they’re not important. “no” is a complete sentence and does not need explanation.

however, I do have reasons. I have an environmental and genetic predisposition for addiction, from all sides of my family. my mom is an unapologetic alcoholic and I hate her for it. I don’t want to be like her. I will give anything not to be like her.

and the other, more nebulous reason, is that I already have issues with reality. I talk about it sometimes, but not often, bc just thinking about it can trigger me haha. but yeah, sometimes I think I’m not real, so consuming any sort of mind-altering substance seems fucking stupid and unhelpful to that end. so that’s another, more important personal thing.

and I will say that I don’t really have anything against people who drink per se. I just... prefer not to be around anyone who’s been drinking at all, whether they’re drunk or not, bc even the smell of alcohol makes me sick these days (thanks, mom). I can’t stand drunk people though like I will not willingly be in the same room as anyone who is drunk. I will fucking not. I will not tolerate any drunken stupidness, I will not be kind. I will be mean and I will yell if pressed. just... leave me the fuck alone if you’ve been drinking a lot.

go on amazon and look for Ruse-Oleum dry erase brush-on kit. that’s the one I found just now but yeah, you can also get chalkboard paint
